I picked up an 87 LX hatch last week. It drove fine on the test drive, drove it home, and drove it around the neighborhood a few times. I backed it out of my driveway this morning to pull in the gargage so I could pull the interior and carpet out. It wouldn't restart, all accessories have power. After lots of testing, it ends up the tranny is stuck in D. The shifter moves, the linkage is free, still attached, and the cable moves as it should on the tranny. I could only start it by jumping the solenoid, and with the shifter in P,R,N the tranny itself is still in Drive. Ideas?
