Gentlemen,
I'm in need of some advice. Currently my '92 is in need of rings. I have a (nos) motorsport block. I was thinking of saving up for a stroker kit. 331 or 347. Since then a friend told me he has a crank, rods, and pistons (I think forged would have to check)for a 5.0 (cracked block). He'd give me the parts if I want them. Also, I have a used Vortech V-1 that I'm planning on putting it on the new motor (about 6# of boost). What would you do? Build the 302, use the extra $ on a cam? Or go with the cubes? If so then 331, or 347? I've heard of the piston ring/oil ring problem on the '347s which is a concern. I don't want my NEW engine smoking. As usual $$ is tight. I'm planning on using my old top end. This is for a daily driver w/ occasional outing to the dragstrip. The current powerplant is 92 stock bottom w/j302 heads, Cobra intake, 19# inj, 70mm tb, bbk fuel pressure reg, and headers, 3:55s, 5 spd. Thank you all for all the input.
p.s. I changed the valve stem seals and check the guides.
