If you haven’t taken a Ford Mustang with seriously respectable power to the track, then you are definitely missing out.  What’s more, if you have, you know what a feat it is to get just that “perfect launch”…because it means everything in the ET.  For the 2013 Shelby GT500, however, life just got a little easier at the track.

Ford has equipped the 2013 GT500 with a brand new launch control make sure every launch is fluid & efficient, every single time.  A recombinant recipe of traction control and engine tuning ensure that the suspension, tires, and weight-shift are balanced when the powertrain is producing substantial power, in order to achieve “maximum thrust” (as SVT engineers put it).

While launch control might not seem like anything all that novel or special in the autosports realm, as-is applied to the 2013 GT500, the more promising thought to hold is that we could see this feature as an option, or perhaps even standard when the 2015 Mustang makes its presence known on the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang.  Now that is something to get excited about.  For now, check out more details in the official Press Release from Ford Motor Company.

It’s no surprise the Ford Mustang and its many variants continue to make global headlines & history, time and again.  So what’s the latest & greatest???  The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is now officially the world’s most powerful production V8.  Wait, what?  Yeah, you read that right.  The 2013 GT500′s supercharged 5.8-liter V8 produces an SAE certified rating of 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of tail-twisting torque.  That’s freaking awesome!

What’s more, the 2013 Shelby GT500 belts out the additional 112hp vs the 2012 Shelby GT500 while at the same time, increasing fuel economy by 1 mpg in the city and on the highway…at a rate that’s 5mpg better than the Government Motors Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

We have told you time and again to keep your ears & eyes open for upcoming news related to Ford Mustang (and other historical Fords) official documentation (re)produced by Marti Auto Works.  Since we told you about their offerings last summer as well as last fall, the Marti team has now expanded their documentation (fact books, literature, stickers, and the sort) to not just the Ford Mustang, but the Mercury Cougar, Ford Fairlane/Torino, and California Special.

All throughout the build-up of our latest Ford Mustang project car, Built to Cruise, we hit certain challenges and bumps in the road that required a healthy portion of blood, sweat, and tears…and ultimately, ground-breaking ingenuity.  One of the key highlights people really liked and latched during the build-up, was the StangNet-designed pedal relocation bracket for the 2011 Coyote 5.0-liter V8 swap into any late-model Fox platform Mustang.  This Coyote 5.0-liter pedal relocation bracket was spec’d out via our own CAD schemes, passed along to prototype stage, and is now being produced by one of our long-term suspension suppliers, J&M Products.  This pedal bracket can be used in any Ford Mustang from 1979 up through 2004, in addition to any other application with a vertical firewall.

The same crew from Marti Auto Works is back to let it be known that the detailed reports for owners of 1987 through 1993 Ford vehicles (of course, the legendary Mustang) are now up for grabs. Aside from the Ford Mustang build & option reporting, there is now complete coverage for every Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury model for this same time period. We told you earlier this year Marti would have the data out on 1987 – 1993 FoMoCo vehicles, and they have done it, well ahead of year’s end!

If there’s one thing for certain in these uncertain times, it’s there is no shortfall when it comes to the attention a Ford Mustang gets. The latest marketing montage Ford has in-pocket is another configuration / customization website for the 2012 Mustang.  The new Ford Mustang Customizer site lets enthusiasts custom-craft their very own Mustang based upon a myriad of choices & options.  Up on deck is the capability to tweak out the 2012 Mustang V6, the 2012 Mustang GT, a 2012 Mustang Boss 302, or a 2012 Shelby GT500, including three different backdrops, nearly a half-dozen shot angles, and a wide selection of options to choose from.  Also, once a custom 2012 Mustang is created, the concept can be shared via social media sites, such as Facebook & Twitter, to exhibit and optionally engage in a “battle mode” of sorts where votes are cast for the coolest 2012 Mustang.
