Hey Ford Mustang fans, here is a hot scoop, straight from the good folks at Ford Racing–it’s Vaughn Gittin, Jr. tearing up a set of tires at the 45th Anniversary celebration of the Ford Mustang. We were able to see it first-hand and we’ve gotta say–it was quite the impressive smoke show at Barber Motorsports Park (Alabama) that day! This is one clip you won’t want to miss!
What is this? Has the StangNet staff gone mad? Posting a truck on the home page? Not mad; flat-out impressed. While the 2010 Ford SVT Raptor isn’t exactly “news” any longer, we did stumble upon a video clip regarding the upcoming SVT Raptor development documentary and just knew we had to share it to our fellow Ford fans out there. This hi-po variant on the Ford F-150 is an insanely capable off-road machine equipped to handle the dunes, let alone the grocery or home improvement store. The whole upgrade from the base F-150 the Raptor receives is pretty amazing: power (320hp / 390 lb-ft), suspension, trim, and yeah…power. Did we mention power? Yeah, the heart of a 5.4 liter V8 as well as a savage 6.2 liter V8 have been prepped for insertion. Continue Reading →
Spring is upon most of us (sorry polar people) and the time to break the Ford Mustang out of its slumber is here. Most Mustang fans that don’t daily-drive their pony cars have a garage or at least try to keep their ride(s) covered up somehow to avoid the detrimental elements. If you don’t have a cover for the storage of your car, be it inside or outside, then we have a neat treat for you. If you do have a cover, well, you might take a second look at the latest from Photo Car Covers. They have a unique product, indeed, as their covers are completely personalized to match your ride! Photo Car Covers utilize a breathable material that is printed with a digital photo of your choosing, so you can exhibit your car even while it’s covered up! After this past whirlwind of a weekend, we have barely had enough time to sit down, reflect, and think about what just happened at the 45th Anniversary Celebration of the Ford Mustang in Birmingham. Now, on a Monday afternoon, it’s all starting to soak in. We ran into thousands of Mustang fans, hundreds of vendors, hung out at the CDC booth (assisted in some installations!), caught some sweet racing at Barber, and of course, caught a feast for the eyes (hot cars) as well as the belly (good, down-home cooking). Most importantly, we were able to share about 95% of the 45th Mustang Anniversary LIVE with you, the Ford Mustang enthusiast community. Between our twitter coverage and live video, we did our best to make sure fans were able to see what they wanted to, regardless of attending the celebration. Continue Reading →

Contending with bad PR these days is seemingly the new norm. To many owners, the collapse of Saleen, Inc was a shock and a major let-down, and it left many wondering what they were to do going forward. After Steve Saleen ventured off on his own with SMS Limited, there seemed to be even less hope in the eyes of Saleen owners and Ford Mustang fans alike. Yesterday, however, a little bit of confidence was restored in the Saleen brand of times past, with Steve Saleen announcing that his new venture would honor existing owner warranties on cars and aftermarket parts. Check out the specifics on how owners can get their claims made in the official press release from SMS Supercars. Continue Reading →
Corner carvers around the world know full well the pain of dramatically shifting weight & inertia while turning and stopping. Beefing up the suspension, stiffening the body, and reducing weight have always been great way to help alleviate body roll and tuck. One product recently released for the 2005 – present Ford Mustang is the Anti-Dive kit from Global Performance Parts. The kit essentially replaces the front control arm main bushings with heavy duty urethane pieces and offers an immediate and inexpensive remedy for nose dive during braking on the S197 Ford Mustang. The also incorporates a caster adjustment which helps to improve steering response, resulting in a better road feel and tightened control of the vehicle under stress. The debut of a new Ford Mustang always seems to grab the attention of fans worldwide–Roush Mustangs are no exception to the rule. Just this morning, Roush Performance unveiled its latest 2010 Mustang variant, the 2010 427R Mustang, at their Livonia, MI assembly plant. The basics behind the beast are much the same as some of the prior Roush Mustangs, and we know well enough the 427R is no stranger to power. The blown 4.6L powerplant is set to produce 435 horsepower and about 400 lb-ft of torque courtesy of an upgraded intake and enhanced cooling system. Outside, the 2010 Roush 427R appears to have the known features expected on any styled Roush product. Side stripes, a new front fascia, front splitter, rear fascia, side sills, a three-piece rear wing, and 18-inch (20″ optional) wheels all round out the appearance changes to the 2010 Mustang. Down under, you’ll find the same quality underpinnings found on other Roush editions: new springs, shocks, and sway bars.
