MGW has recently release their
new shifter handle for the Mustang. We have used several different
handle offerings out there but like the concept
behind what MGW has done. The angle of
the handle itself is totally different in what
 most
people are accustomed to in a 'short' throw shifter. The angle at
which the shifter faces you is more down and direct. Best way to
describe it would be to say it feels more like you are pulling down on a
'lever' rather than reaching out and pulling on a 'handle'. Other
benefits we noticed in the handle is that MGW purposely made the handle very
thick in design. This helps keep the harmonics of the transmission
from resonating through the handle. Most handles out there act like a
tuning fork in nature due to their smaller and thinner design.
Once again MGW provided us with everything
we needed to make the install simple. Several different rubber pieces
were provided. The square piece is placed between the handle and the
shift lever on the shifter, this also helps in quieting the
transmission. Rubber washers are also provided as spacers to allow you
to adjust the height at which the leather shifter boot rests on the handle.
The handle itself is anodized blue for a nice clean look.
All in all we like the feel in our Bullitt
with the new shifter handle. This handle is attached to our Steeda
Tri-Ax shifter and the mating is a nice one. |
