In another documentary video release from Ford, in preparation for the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang, we get another glimpse into the brain trust behind the sporting-up of the original pony car. The senior leadership (Lee Iacocca, et al) of Ford Motor Company put up the task to make something meager into a serious performance monster. And as you had better know already, it was Carroll Shelby and his team who were tapped to get the job done.

Remember those spy shots of the 2014 Ford Mustang that floated around the web last week? Yeah, they didn’t really show too much more than we had already expected, but what’s cool about what we’ve scooped up this week, is that the team over at CarBuzz has taken those same images and refactored them in a totally slick “what if” rendering.
But wait, there’s more! The latest idea everyone’s teasing around about the next Ford Mustang is that it’s going on a diet. One which involves the pony car shedding an acclaimed 400+ pounds versus today’s model. With the weight loss, as one might assume, will also come a slightly smaller posture, as Ford’s continuing to appease not just one market place…but the world.
And let’s be honest here; no one is excited to burn more fuel, unless the experience is really cool.
Less overhang. Less width. Less trackage. Less…wait what? If Ford keeps this up, the ladies might not get too excited about the next round.
Keep reading to see what the folks over at Edmunds had to say about this latest slim & trim 2015 Mustang. Some of us are excited. Some are just waiting in the queue to see what the next bomb shell looks like. Some of us just wish we could get our paws on the keys to a 50th Anniversary Ford product and grin the whole way home…
It looks like the global marketing campaign for the upcoming Ford Mustang model is continuing to take shape, with more and more countries around the planet getting the new Mustang, in “official” distribution capacity. Earlier this week, Ford announced the next generation Mustang is definitely a go for the major Asia Pacific markets of Australia and New Zealand. Aside from the fact it will definitely be a right-hand drive configuration, Ford didn’t really let much else out of the bag past its already known “One Ford” global marketing mix of vehicle offerings.
Even Mustang enthusiasts down under have loads of speculation about power plant options, with the words EcoBoost and direct-injection turbo passing across the scene.
With the Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary inching its way closer as we creep into August, Ford has started to spark up the interest for the anticipated event with a new video series, aimed at sourcing the vast community of Mustang enthusiasts around the world.
The “Ford Mustang Countdown” campaign is a weekly online series which will feature video clips highlighting moments in the Mustang timeline, starting with the initial launch of the 1962 Ford Mustang 1 concept.
In the clip following, you get to see one such enthusiast, Zach King, put together a short film exhibiting two RC Mustangs in a model city chase scene. Pretty well done, at that, actually! Other clips are going to cover a great deal of Mustang legacy, so be sure to keep your eyes open for future video features.
Ready for another next-gen Ford Mustang rumor? Sure you are! This month’s biggest morsel we could scavenge for was the notion the upcoming Mustang redux will be a 2014 1/2 model, to be produced in limited fashion for commemorating the car’s 50th Anniversary. Sounds familiar, right? That’s because, as so many of us well-know, the original pony car we look at with admiration & awe today was released (technically) as a 1964 1/2 model.
Renderings, concepts, spy shots, and now even a small video of the 2015 Ford Mustang has seeped out from the 50th Anniversary cracks. This latest clip sounds off the low-end tones of what’s most likely the 5.0 Coyote we have come to know and love in today’s Mustang, and while we don’t get any high RPM revs or event a blip of spirit, we can say we’re plenty pleased with the throaty tone from what is highly speculated to be the 2015 Mustang to be. Follow the jump for the video.
Earlier this afternoon, Ford Motor Company announced 50 companies will initially market & sell jackets, shirts, watches, game machines, and much more to assist in the commemoration of the Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary celebration. The new, trendy 50th Anniversary logo was designed by Michael Thompson, demonstrating the signature galloping pony layered over the text “50 YEARS”. Too awesome! Oh, and guess what–the StangNet crew will also soon have an online store so you can get your paws on these 50th Anniversary goodies.
Ford also plans to keep teasing out more specific commemorative wares over the coming months, as part of a year-long celebration which was kicked off at the 2013 New York Auto Show. For those who don’t follow the details of the legendary Mustang, it’s going to turn 50, officially, on April 17, 2014. Mark your calendars now!
There’s a plethora of speculation surrounding what the 2015 Ford Mustang is going to bring, so we spend our words with care around the shop these days. We all agree that the 50th Anniversary is poised to be a pretty big deal. So what about the power, the mystique, the styling, and the surprise? Keep reading…
It seems like everyone and their offspring has some sort of conjecture surrounding the 50th Anniversary Edition of the Ford Mustang, right? Well, who wouldn’t? This is likely one of the most exciting domestic automotive events which will transpire in the lifetime of most. What other successfully (note: we said successfully) branded cars, to date, have ever made it 50 years without a single lapse in production? Few, if but a handful. The 2014 1/2 or the 2015 Ford Mustang is slated to be the most expected and exciting rendition yet.
