Supercharged Ford Mustang sets half mile speed record

What happens when you mix a NASCAR driver, Bristol Motor Speedway, a Ford Racing 2011 Mustang GT, and pit them against the toughest competitor out there…the clock?  An awesome display of skill & horsepower, that’s in the least!  David Ragan put down the net to his Ford Fusion and took the reins of a tweaked-out 2011 Mustang GT in an attempt to post up a serious half-mile time.  How did he fair?  He posted a new production car speed & time record of 98.497 miles per hour in just 19.481 seconds.  Pretty awesome feat!

So while that doesn’t sound all too impressive to those of us used to 1320 times, well, put it like this: the best of super bikes was only able to eek out a time just a tenth slower & a mph slower, also.  That’s nuts; a Mustang beating a bike around the track in a 1/2-mile sprint!

Ready to see the record-setting footage?  Keep going!

New MRT Exhaust setups for 2005 – 2011 Ford Mustang

There’s now two more performance exhaust systems for the late model Ford Mustang, Mustang  Bullitt, and the Shelby GT500.  MRT is unleashing their all-new MaxFlow H-pipe for the 2005 through 2010 Mustang and the 2007 through 2010 GT500.   If you aren’t aware of it by now, there’s no better way to get the deep bellowing exhaust note from the Mustang than to go with an H pipe setup.

And that’s not all…  2011 Mustang V6 owners will be pleased to know that MRT also has a groundbreaking Axle-back exhaust system, ready to let the high-revving 3.7-liter V6 scream through the redline.  Once again, this system is made from the same high quality compounds as other MRT products, and there’s no alteration required to get a true OEM fit on your Mustang.  To top it all off, MRT even offers polished chrome exhaust tips to the Axle-back, standard!

Made from top-grade 304 stainless steel, utilizing mandrel bending for maximum exhaust flow, these MRT Mustang exhaust systems are completely ready to bolt on, straight out of the box; no hassles at all.  Keep reading for the official press releases, as well as a shot of the MRT Mustang V6 Axle-back system.

2011 Ford Mustang earns Top Pick honors

While it comes no surprise to Ford Mustang fans worldwide, the fine folks over at Consumer Reports have concluded the 2011 Mustang is one to make the Top Picks list this year, under the Sporty car category. It’s come as a surprise to some in the news & media field, but c’mon, really? The 5.0 Mustang is back and it’s bad, folks! We’re guessing what seems to be shocking people in the circulars the most is the fact Consumer Reports typically awards such accolades to cars which overly excel practicality and value. What’s more, this is only the 2nd time an American-made automobile has won the Sporty car category. That’s quite amazing! Last time this happened, it was with the Ford Focus SVT back in 2004.

Head over to CNN Money to catch the rest of the story as well as the video on the Top Picks by Consumer Reports.

201X Mustang – The Future?

If there’s one thing Ford Mustang fans know all too well, it’s to not be complacent with today’s awesome Mustang GT, Shelby GT500, and other powerful aftermarket derivatives a la Mustang.  We’ve seen a lot of great things happen in 2010 and 2011, with 2012 only adding to the mix with the return of the Boss Mustang 302 and many other awesome attributes.  So now, what do we get excited about in the 2012 Mustang, the 2013 Mustang, 2014 Mustang, and beyond?  Will the Shelby GT500 slide to the wayside with a rebirth of the coveted SVT Cobra nameplate?  Will the Boss remain the king of the road and track?  What happens if the hippies win in D.C. and we step back to 4-cylinder engines, or gasp, electric power plants?  It’s tough to tell, but right now, all we have to say is “the sky is the limit”.
