1-shot Grabber Blue 2012 Mustang Boss on the block

UPDATE:  Sold for $450,00 at the auction!

Looks like the Blue Oval boys have set up an attention getter at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Laguna Seca, with a hotter than ever 2012 Mustang Boss 302 set to take stage and go home with a thick wallet.  The proceeds from the sale of this 2012 Boss will, like many Shelby auctions of recent, go for the benefit of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

This one-of-a-kind Grabber Blue Boss Mustang will sport more than the base Boss stuff.  It will also adorn black accents upon the roof, mirrors, and spoiler; will have a set of Recaro seats with Grabber Blue embroidery, and under the hood–a 444hp 5.0-liter V8.  Awesome.

2012 Mustang Boss 302 to carry $41K price tag

With recent announcements of 2012 specifications, offerings, and a two-key engine control system, the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 is no stranger to Ford Mustang fans worldwide.  One key stat recently surfaced…what we’d all be focused upon during the litmus test of ownership.  The new Boss Mustang is set to carry an MSRP of $40,995 (destination & delivery inclusive).  Most of the Mustang enthusiast discussion has poured over this topic, centering on the fact Ford would keep the package at or around the $40K mark…and they were right.

A few key options can be added to the Boss 302 in order to make that number quickly jump over the $41K mark, however.  The Recaro seating and torsen differential option package will run an additional $1,995.  Go for the Boss 302 Accessory Package (car cover and floor mats) and the price tag creeps up by $475.  Opt for the Yellow Blaze Tricoat Metallic paint and expect to see another $495 on the pricing sheet.  Lastly, the Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca package will have an MSRP of $47,990 which includes destination and delivery.

So what do you think, guys & gals?  Is the price right?  Are you going to trade up to the new Boss?

2012 Mustang Boss offers up Jekyll & Hyde with 2 keys

Prospective owners who eventually take the reins of the new 2012 Mustang Boss will be further surprised at the latest pet feature unveiled by Ford today.  The pony car will be offered in twin-key fashion; one key, adorned with a black Boss logo & another key in a racing red hue (the TracKey) which turns the Mustang Boss 302 into a tarmac-ripping beast.  This project was spearheaded by the Mustang engineering team, Ford Racing, and TracKey, adding a complete powertrain control module (PCM) program to be activated solely by the turn of a specific key.  Over 200 engine management settings are adjusted, increasing torque, engaging two-stage launch control, and summary aggressive performance in order to tackle the track.

So just how does the magic happen?  Keep reading to get a view from behind the curtain in the Ford Press Release.

It’s Back: 2012 Mustang Boss 302

This year has to be one of the most exciting ever to be a Ford Mustang fan.  Why?  The legendary 5.0 has made its return, for starters.  The base Mustang coupe pumps out over 300hp with insane fuel economy metrics.  Now, we can focus our eyes upon one more fantastic Ford news bite: the 2012 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 is a reality!  We’d hinted at the return of a BOSS when we saw the BOSS 302R Mustang variant released & figured Ford was doing some initial viral marketing to test the waters.  So, here we are, looking down the barrel and we’ve got the 2012 BOSS Mustang in our sights.  This is simply awesome!

Virtually ever single vehicle system has been upgraded to legendary BOSS performance standards.  The engine, brakes, suspension, interior, exterior–the whole package has been geared up with one thing in mind: track performance & domination.  Not since 1968 have we seen Ford get this pumped up about a track terror and road machine, all wrapped into the same package.  We’ve gotta say, it’s been well worth the wait.

Hope yet remains for a BOSS Ford Mustang return

2012_Ford_Mustang_Boss_302

We’ve got to keep the rumor mill crankin’, right?  We all saw and drooled over the Ford Racing BOSS 302R from late last year.  We have witnessed the return of the legendary 5.0 Mustang.  Now, we have caught wind of some continued buzz surrounding the return of a street-trimmed BOSS Mustang.  Mark Fields, Ford President of the Americas, recently dropped a hint/clue/seed/tale that the BOSS moniker could make its way back to production.

“We did the Bullitt, we did a Mach 1, we did the C/S.  I can’t tell you what the next special edition Mustang will be, but I can give you a hint.”

Shortly after his teaser lines, a 1970 BOSS 302 Mustang thundered across the hosting dealership stage and Fields remarked, “Is that a subtle enough hint?”

Let’s hope so, Mark.  Let’s hope so.
