LateModel Resto Project Coyote Ford Mustang is alive

We were the first to do it right.  There’s no hacked-up Ford Mustang with a Coyote power plant with regard to ‘Built to Cruise’ in any way.  We had help from a plethora of aftermarket partners to champion the car project, and there have been a few other players out there who’ve started their own swaps based upon pioneering ventures witnessed.  LateModel Restoration is one of our long-time partners in the Mustang realm and they now have their own swap project near completion, ready for public consumption.  Their 1997 Cobra Mustang is the latest swap they have tackled and there’s a video posted out there with some captioned details about what all they have put into it.  So be sure to check out their video (link below) and shout out to let us know what you think!

5.0 Mustang Magazine Features our ‘Built to Cruise’ Project

We have always kept our stable full of Mustangs here at StangNet, and quite often, we arrive at one that is a total hit.  The latest completed project Ford Mustang, Built to Cruise, has just upped its street cred with a feature in the June 2013 of 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords.  So now you can say you saw the best Fox Coyote swap Mustang before it hit print, right here on our site, as we put it all together.

As for the feature in the magazine, we won’t spoil it, but you can grab your own copy and pilfer the pages for a fantastic photo shoot of BTC and of course, plenty of back-story and tech about the car, in case you might have missed it beforehand.  So, what are you waiting for?  Head to your local book-tailer and get your own copy of the magazine!

Jay Leno to purchase StangNet ‘Built to Cruise’ Project Mustang

Trust us, we were just about as floored to get the call from outer Burbank this morning, too. Anyone who has any remote clue about cars at all knows Jay Leno is a HU-UGE car nut & Ford Mustang fan, and he possesses a crazy amount of antiques, classics, concepts, projects, and relics in his insanely-awesome garage of automobilia. So why did his people get online and scour for our contact information to show interest in BTC?  Probably because the buzz it has spawned since it was built, and that Built to Cruise was the first sanctioned Coyote 5.0 swap into a Fox body Mustang laid out in full spread with documentation & photos along the way, and was done with detailed perfection…not some Frankenstein hack job a shade tree mechanic might come up with.

As for the price Leno is offering, we cannot say just yet, as his agent couple only promise us a few minutes with him on the conference call, and we mostly spent the time “kicking tires” and shooting the breeze.  He’s a pretty stand-up guy and totally down-to-earth.  He has an idea of what we expect to get out of the project and let’s be honest here–it’s not like Jay’s hurting for cash, heh!

Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you posted on what comes next.  We are supposed to hear back by the close of business or at the latest, tomorrow morning…

Built to Cruise – Hitting the Home Stretch

We wanted to post an update on the build status of the Built to Cruise project.  We have accomplished a lot over the last 2 weeks.  We had some serious build time last week pulling some 17 hour days.  Patrick from Classic Design Concepts flew down to give us a hand with some electronics and fabrication.  He has been a good friend for a long time and boy did we get some stuff accomplished!  Currently we are waiting on the solution for power steering, there are some options, we just need to choose.  We hope to have BTC up and running on the street in about 3 weeks.  Jump on in for some serious pictures and specs.

BBK Headers for Fox 2011 5.0 Engine Swap

If you have been wondering just how in the heck we managed to get a 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 into a Fox body Mustang with great form sans hacks, well, we’re here to tell about one great feat by a featured aftermarket player which helped make it happen.  BBK worked very closely with us to get the form, fitment, and function absolutely perfect.  If you haven’t already checked out the video we posted over the weekend, then you’re missing out!  It was the first crank-up of Built to Cruise, EVER!  We were completely stoked to see all the hard work by all come into play.

The end game of this note to everyone is to let it be known that StangNet and BBK have worked with great concern for detail on making this swap something that can be done in the future by anyone, anytime, with the will to make it happen.  We’ve taking on the burden of growing pains & lots of documentation so the entire aftermarket doesn’t have to!

Keep reading to get all the specs & notes, directly from BBK.
