In another documentary video release from Ford, in preparation for the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang, we get another glimpse into the brain trust behind the sporting-up of the original pony car. The senior leadership (Lee Iacocca, et al) of Ford Motor Company put up the task to make something meager into a serious performance monster. And as you had better know already, it was Carroll Shelby and his team who were tapped to get the job done.

There is not (or at least there better not be) a single Ford Mustang fanatic that doesn’t know who Steve McQueen is, let alone his amazing car chase scene in Bullitt. This month, there’s another McQueen making a news bit here recently by landing himself an extremely rare 50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra. Ronald McQueen was chosen as the 2012 Win-A-Shelby raffle winner by the (late) Carroll Shelby Foundation, and is now the lucky owner of one of Shelby American’s greatest tribute achievements. These modern-day equivalent Cobras are fabricated with the same attention to detail and performance as they were in the 1960s, and Shelby himself was happy knowing this sweeps would result in not just someone driving one of his works of art…but taking it home has his or her own.

On the eve of the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang and recently losing a motorsports legend, Ford Racing and Shelby American have announced a 2013 Shelby GT500 that dispenses an incredible amount of power…850 horses under-hood, to be exact. This 2013 GT500 is aimed at commemorating the legends of both the Ford Mustang as well as the man who had a dramatic influence in the pony car’s lineage.
The 2013 Shelby Cobra of concern achieves this awesome power feat by starting with the (already “healthy”) 662-horsepower 2013 Shelby GT500 and jumps to an output of 850 horsepower via a Ford Racing 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger. There’s also its menacing stance, 345 wide rear rubber, upgraded braking, and a killer color (Guardsman Blue, striped with Wimbledon White) setting this Shelby GT500 above all the rest.

If you haven’t caught it yet on social media outlets, we’re here to share some sad news in the Ford Mustang world, everyone. As the headline states, we’ve lost Carroll Shelby from this land and he’s no doubt headed to the 1320′ strip in the clouds for the hereafter. Shelby passed away at age 89 yesterday, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. As of this point, we know he was not doing well health-wise, but the official terminal cause has not been released.
The automotive magnate of all things Mustang, and other Detroit muscle, will be sorely missed as one of the legends…one of the greats…one who shaped the automotive industry AND aftermarket then, now, and the future.
Hats off from StangNet, Carroll Shelby. Your presence will be sorely missed by many.

What do you get the Ford Mustang fan that seems to have it all? Something big. Something unique. Something that, quite frankly, makes a statement no other piece on the aftermarket novelty scene can remotely touch. So how about a billiards table resembling a 1965 Shelby GT350 Mustang? Yeah, that’s the ticket.
The pool table itself isn’t just a flowery rendition of the class Ford Mustang–nor is it some cheap knock-off from a tissue paper catalog. This game platform is the real deal, produced in limited number, and each is autographed by Carroll Shelby, also.
