2011 Ford Mustang graphics & configurator

Back in June, Ford launched a slick custom graphics site for the all-new 2011 Ford Fiesta and now, the clever marketeers have repeated the affair for the hot, new 2011 Ford Mustang.  This configurator website over at FordVehicles.com allows for a sizable amount of combos to be designed in order to appease most any Mustang fan’s preferences.  Users Riders can pick from a myriad of stripes, accents, tribal decals, and even some complete overlays.  With most of the packages just south of the $300 mark, it’s not a huge bank-breaker to tweak the 2011 Mustang and have it be set apart from the rest of the herd on the streets.

So…ready to do some shopping and tailoring?  If so, head on over to Ford and make it happen!

It’s Back: 2012 Mustang Boss 302

This year has to be one of the most exciting ever to be a Ford Mustang fan.  Why?  The legendary 5.0 has made its return, for starters.  The base Mustang coupe pumps out over 300hp with insane fuel economy metrics.  Now, we can focus our eyes upon one more fantastic Ford news bite: the 2012 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 is a reality!  We’d hinted at the return of a BOSS when we saw the BOSS 302R Mustang variant released & figured Ford was doing some initial viral marketing to test the waters.  So, here we are, looking down the barrel and we’ve got the 2012 BOSS Mustang in our sights.  This is simply awesome!

Virtually ever single vehicle system has been upgraded to legendary BOSS performance standards.  The engine, brakes, suspension, interior, exterior–the whole package has been geared up with one thing in mind: track performance & domination.  Not since 1968 have we seen Ford get this pumped up about a track terror and road machine, all wrapped into the same package.  We’ve gotta say, it’s been well worth the wait.

2011 Ford Shelby GT500 nearly sold out

It’s no secret once the 2011 Ford Mustang was promised to return with the legendary 5.0-liter V8 that the car and its many Ford variants would sell like ice cream in the Mojave desert.  So what happens when we  have a Mustang coupe with a V6 pumping out over 300hp and a Mustang GT producing over 400hp?  You wonder just how awesome the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 had to be.

Well, the 550 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque (10 horsepower increase vs model year 2010) equipped 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 is just that–awesome.  It’s so popular (and much better in all ways) that Ford is going to limit the 5,500 production set of the Shelby GT500 to maintain exclusivity of the car.  This is great for would-be 2011 GT500 owners, but not so great if you happen to be the 5,501st person to place your order.  What’s more daunting is that over 3,300 orders have already been filed to date, leaving under half of the production run up for grabs.

So what do you think about this, guys?  Good move (production limitations) by Ford?  Not so good?  Let us hear it in the comments–in the meantime, check out the Press Release from Ford to get the rest of the scoop.

2010 Camp Steeda recap

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to catch a hot lapping session, you aren’t alone.  If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to participate in one, yeah, you have no strange company here and there.  All we can tell you is that in order to make it happen, you have to guts up and make it to a local track hotspot and either tear it up in your own Ford Mustang or beg for a shotgun spot to soak it up.

The guys and gals at Steeda made up a fantastic track event just recently at the 2010 Camp Steeda Driving event, presented by Track Guys at Sebring.  There are few tracks that are ever-present in a boy racer’s mind and this is exactly one of them.  The 3.7-mile course is one of the most car & driver taxing ones in any circuit, yet with a proper driver and car, can often times be the most enjoyable.

If you have any idea of what the track experience is like, you know exactly what I’m saying and you can feel it as I do.  If you don’t have a clue what a track weekend is like, then keep reading; the Steeda folks know how to put on a good show–no doubt.  Enjoy!

Hope yet remains for a BOSS Ford Mustang return

2012_Ford_Mustang_Boss_302

We’ve got to keep the rumor mill crankin’, right?  We all saw and drooled over the Ford Racing BOSS 302R from late last year.  We have witnessed the return of the legendary 5.0 Mustang.  Now, we have caught wind of some continued buzz surrounding the return of a street-trimmed BOSS Mustang.  Mark Fields, Ford President of the Americas, recently dropped a hint/clue/seed/tale that the BOSS moniker could make its way back to production.

“We did the Bullitt, we did a Mach 1, we did the C/S.  I can’t tell you what the next special edition Mustang will be, but I can give you a hint.”

Shortly after his teaser lines, a 1970 BOSS 302 Mustang thundered across the hosting dealership stage and Fields remarked, “Is that a subtle enough hint?”

Let’s hope so, Mark.  Let’s hope so.
