2015 Ford Mustang orders in May, production in August

Got your Christmas gift money all counted?  Ready for your tax refund yet?  Prepared to sign on the line for that 50th Anniversary pony car we all have been waiting for?  That’s right, every day we endure the silliness of the polar vortex brings us one day closer to Production Day for the upcoming 2015 Ford Mustang.  Rumor has it (yeah, we know) pre-orders will be taken for the 6th-generation in May, with production to follow in August (est 11th).  As for deliveries, eager 2015 Mustang owners are expected to get the keys in their hands sometime during 3rd quarter 2014.

The 2015 Mustang production also heralds another change; the final 5th-generation Mustang will cease production as early as June 20, 2014, closing off another amazing chapter in the Mustang’s heritage & history.

2015 Ford Mustang to grace roads of India

Guess what new-found “world car” is about to join the ranks of many others which have graced posters in many motorheads’ garages-offices…the 2015 Ford Mustang is going to set the pace all the way to India to undergo a right-hand conversion.  Ford will soon have a car in company with brands such as Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, and several others on the roadways of India.  The only serious question remaining is a question of “when” and another of “hey, is this actually for real?”–because, let’s be honest here; we’ve all swallowed some jagged little pills from the rumor mill for better than half a year now when it comes to Ford Mustang news items.

So while it’s pretty cool to see Ford taking this pony car to the world market, it’ll be another thing to see how the car actually does when it comes to cultural acceptance and actual practicality.  India, bluntly put, isn’t exactly an ideal location or target audience for a car that screams “loud pipes save lives” and requires more than being trapped in traffic for 2 hours in order to enjoy it.

Time will tell, as cliche as it sounds…

First 2015 Ford Mustang auctioned off for huge coin

Make no mistake, the 2015 Ford Mustang has already been making waves, and is sure to make many more as we continue to creep closer to the showroom debut of the car, and the exuberant test drives which are sure to come.  What’s interesting this last week in all things 2015 Mustang is that the very first production unit went up for auction at Barrett-Jackson, and brought in $300,000.  Yikes.  Really?

Being the first one off the line, Ford had to make sure something special marked the occasion, and what better way than to slide the equivalent of some small nation’s GDP towards a charitable cause–the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

One of the other, somewhat less spell-binding takeaways, is that the winning bidder get to fully personalize their new 2015 Mustang GT with any choice of options available on the 2015 Mustang model.  Want more?  Keep reading to check out the rest of the details in the PR…

2015 Ford Mustang wins best design award

It’s not even entirely ready for mass-distribution, and it’s already winning awards.  The 2015 Ford Mustang was able to nab a Design award at the Detroit auto show, almost a week ago.  We’ve seen this car come from the span of complete rumor, to rendered speculation, and now…production & forthcoming burnouts sales.  What’s the big deal, you say?

Well, it’s not every day you hear about a regular production muscle/pony car having its 50th birthday, winning Design awards mostly reserved for extreme concepts, and keeping the tradition of American automotive history alive and well, for many miles and years to come.  I mean, c’mon, the Camaro kept the heartbeat thumping from 2003 to 2009, right?  Sorry, closet bow tie boy & girls; I had to let that one slip out…

The Mid-Engined Ford Mustang at the 2014 NAIAS

It’s pretty cool when the past gets paid its due, and especially remarkable when it surrounds a half-century celebration of continuous production. At the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Ford has the all-new Ford Mustang, Ford F-150, and several other refreshed models for the upcoming showcase on display. What could be quickly passed over at the show, however, is the 1962 Ford Mustang 1 concept–a mid-engined Mustang that never came to pass.

Barn Find – 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302

So what do you think you’d look like after sitting in the same room, non-stop, after 40+ years?  Just a little dust and that’s it, right?  Probably not, but wouldn’t it be nice to age as gracefully as some automobiles which find themselves in the time capsule known as being “barn bound”?  We’ve all seen plenty of the Ford Mustang in examples of such occurrences, and let’s be honest, it never gets old hearing the nostalgic tales of these cars.

This go ’round, it’s posted up on eBay by a Wisconsin car dealer, after being plucked from a New Hampshire barn for about 40 years.  With the dealer holding the keys to this 3rd-owner Ford Mustang, and having the paperwork to prove it, it seems like it’s too good to be true.  What’s more, this particular Acapulco Blue ’69 Boss 302 has a mere 43K miles on the clock…that’s nuts!

Jay Leno dives into the 2015 Ford Mustang

With a few more months to come before its total unleashing to the public, the 2015 Ford Mustang is already raising brows aplenty with the stormy debut just weeks ago.  The totally redesigned 2015 Mustang is going to mark the 50th Anniversary of Ford’s poster child pony car, and there’s little doubt people will be lined up for order-taking within the next months…especially after tax time.

But until then, each of us can simply aspire to own one and live vicariously through the lucky few who get their paws onto one.  One such lucky devil goes by the Jay Leno–maybe you’ve heard of him?  Even though Jay doesn’t get to tool around the streets in the car, you still get a pretty in-depth look at the latest & greatest Mustang we’re all ramped up for.

Keep reading to check out the ~25 minute video spot for the 2015 Mustang and what Jay has to say about it.

First 2015 Ford Mustang to auction for charity

After seeing the 2015 Ford Mustang for ourselves mere days ago, it seems that Ford’s wasting zero time, pushing ahead with the 50th Anniversary event stream.  The latest morsel to fall from the table is that the very first retail 2015 Mustang GT is going to be a Fastback style car, destined for the auction block of Barrett-Jackson…for charitable purposes, of course.  The Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) is to receive the proceeds from the auction of 2015 Mustang unit #1.

The fortunate (and likely deep-pocketed) auction winner will be able to fully customize his or her 2015 Mustang GT with any of the available options Ford has tossed on the plate–and there’s no shortage of choices by any stretch of the imagination.

Keep reading to get the official dig from the Ford Press Release which follows…

2015 Ford Mustang official intel

Now that the cat’s officially out of the bag, we suppose it is safe to offer up our two pence on the 2015 Ford Mustang.  But first things first:  EcoBoost–yes.  More powerful 5.oh V8–yes.  Independent rear suspension–yes.

OK, now with that out of the way, let’s focus upon the seemingly superficial things…like looks, looks, aaaaand looks.

The goal Ford proponed was a global platform, updates to the existing contemporary design, and conducting some “trimming” along the way to sleeken the overall Mustang appearance to the masses. So what’s that fancy-pants marketing jargon really mean? A lowered, wider stance obtained by a roof height reduction and extending the rear fenders out just-so, providing for a wider track…simply put.

At the same time, Ford’s quite excellently integrated the old-school fastback look with a sleeker windshield and rear glass angle. Look long and hard enough, and you can even get a twinge of Fox coupe design mixed into the 2015 Mustang crucible. Of course, tri-bar taillamps are out back, illuminating with standard sequential bulbs.

Inside, the continued ramp-up of sport technology continues to roll forward. Ford has put the pilot of the 2015 Mustang at the ready with aptly placed controls and switches, making the Mustang even more practical (dare we say?) than before.

We could go on and on for hours on this one, and let’s be honest, your attention has drifted a few times already to this point. So with that said, hop to the full Press Release and source material from Ford to get full disclosure on the 50th Anniversary Ford Mustang.
