Roush & Ford Racing have teamed up to strip a (large) piece of sheet metal from Matt Kenseth’s No. 17 Roush-Fenway Racing car.  This piece is right off a car which ran in an official NASCAR Sprint Cup race!  It’s about 148 x 45 inches and holds an approximate value of $550; plenty of braggin’ rights here!

What’s one of the ultimate blessings you could receive on your Ford Mustang modification achievement?  One note of praise might be to have professional drivers declare and speak of its awesomeness.  That’s just what happened when Jack Roush turned his NASCAR Sprint Cup & Nationwide Series drivers loose with the keys to a fleet of 2010 ROUSH 427R Mustangs.  The scene of the crime?  Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In case you’ve been under a rock and missed the news the first time around, the Ford Mustang is set to join the NASCAR racing series in the 2010 season.  The 2010 Mustang trimmed out for the NASCAR Nationwide Series will run in at least four races as part of a new car rollout program.  Tomorrow, Jack Roush (of Roush Fenway Racing) will officially announce and unveil the 2010 Mustang race car.  Not long after the unveiling, a test run by Colin Braun is set to come about on November 2nd at Talladega.  Better catch it while you can this fall, because it will be a while before you’ll see it on the track next July at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.  There’s more in store behind the car, so be sure to check out fordracing.com for more details.

About a month ago, we told you (and hinted at some time ago) about the rumors surrounding the Ford Mustang joining NASCAR for the first time in the 2010 Nationwide Series.  Now, we’re back to tell you about the real deal.  Today, the director of Ford North America Motorsports has officially announced the Mustang will be running laps with the field contenders next year!  With the retro redesign in 2005 and the upgraded lines on the 2010 Mustang, Ford keeps throwing punches at the competition to make sure enthusiasts get to see a good fight.  Watch closely, race fans, this could get good!  Keep reading to get the scoop in the official Press Release.

After 14 months of cracking down and reaching the pinnacle of performance, the team at ROUSH Peformance took the wraps off their latest & greatest project, the 2010 ROUSH Ford Mustang.  Luckily for the rest of us, we won’t have to sit through just over a year of the R&D storyline to see the 2010 ROUSH Mustang go from concept to car.  The SPEED channel will soon broadcast a behind-the-curtain look at the making of the fifth installment in the ROUSH Mustang legacy.  Several clips were assembled for a comprehensive look at some areas which are normally off-limits to the public such as the modeling studios, the assembly line, and the Cooper Tire & Vehicle Test Center.  Included with the design and production backstory will also be some featured guest spots from Chip Foose, John Force, Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, and Greg Biffle.  Keep reading to get the specific show air dates and more in the press release from ROUSH.

We might best fit the description of  “moderate” NASCAR fans, as we’ve never been all that excited to see Fusions, Chargers, and Camrys circling the track for hundreds of miles these past few years.  That’s about to change.  The folks over at FOX Sports recently reported that Ford has plans to introduce the Ford Mustang into the Nationwide Racing Series next year.  The news comes now, a bit on the early side, because the new templates and designs are required to be submitted for approval on June 26th and the 2010 NASCAR competition is supposedly going to be very close to stock in the visual cues department…at least much closer than the aero-styled cars we’ve been accustomed to for almost ten years.  Dodge has stated they are going to have the Challenger designed and slated for the series as well.  General (Government) Motors?  They passed on producing a Camaro shell to race underneath and will stick with their current Impala setup, while Toyota will also follow the stale suit and stick with their Camry paneling.

It’s not often records like this are broken. It’s been 22 years as a matter of fact. The current (aged) record for NASCAR top speed is placed at 212.089 mph, set by Bill Elliott at the Talladega Superspeedway in a 1987 Ford Thunderbird. This Wednesday (May 13, 2009) will mark the time in which this record will likely fall. The folks at Hajek Motorsports have tweaked and tuned a Ford Mustang FR500C to run on E-85 fuel to be the steed Bill pilots in this attempt. It should be an easy record to displace, given this Mustang has already been clocked at about 252 mph at the Salt Flats. Who knew green could be so fast!?
