2012 Steeda Stampede flashback

Just a couple weeks ago, several Ford Mustang fans of the Steeda variety (amongst other enthusiasts, of course) were able to get together at the Pompano Beach headquarters of Steeda Autosports, in tandem with the Fun Ford Weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway.  Well over 100 Mustangs were on-site, and several hundred fans & spectators alike were basking in the fabulous Fords to behold.

In addition to the 13th Annual Steeda Stampede’s normal festivities, much of the FFW action overflowed and was taken up by many fans in attendance.  Prize giveaways, a Ford Mustang triathlon, and of course, some great 1320ft passes down the straightaway!

Keep reading for a full breakdown from Steeda, including pictures, a video, and more…

Track Day Ford Mustang Honors WWII Veterans

There have been quite a few Ford Mustang stories in the headlines these past weeks with regard to memorializing special interest causes, veterans, and tributes in general to motorsport legends (Carroll Shelby’s passing).  Well, honestly, there’s no such thing as too many, so here’s one more to enjoy.  Shannon Moore has a tie back to World War II via her grandfather, and had her sights set on the WWII memorial in DC, with him riding along.  What’s more, Shannon has also latched onto HonorFlight.org, an organization tasked with assisting veterans in getting veterans the chance to personally visit their respective memorial(s).

Since hearing of this incredible initiative, Shannon, her crew chief, and Rehagen Racing’s Dean Martin have put the skids on a Mustang in order to be the ultimate track car as a tribute.  Shannon’s racer boy girl Mustang is hued in Furious Fuschia, has loads of performance goodies, and is completely track-ready for paying tribute to the Fallen and the Honored we still owe a debt of gratitude to.

2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 launch control detailed

If you haven’t taken a Ford Mustang with seriously respectable power to the track, then you are definitely missing out.  What’s more, if you have, you know what a feat it is to get just that “perfect launch”…because it means everything in the ET.  For the 2013 Shelby GT500, however, life just got a little easier at the track.

Ford has equipped the 2013 GT500 with a brand new launch control make sure every launch is fluid & efficient, every single time.  A recombinant recipe of traction control and engine tuning ensure that the suspension, tires, and weight-shift are balanced when the powertrain is producing substantial power, in order to achieve “maximum thrust” (as SVT engineers put it).

While launch control might not seem like anything all that novel or special in the autosports realm, as-is applied to the 2013 GT500, the more promising thought to hold is that we could see this feature as an option, or perhaps even standard when the 2015 Mustang makes its presence known on the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang.  Now that is something to get excited about.  For now, check out more details in the official Press Release from Ford Motor Company.

SEMA 2011: MRT ‘TKO’ V6 Ford Mustang Road Racer

Most every player in the aftermarket has sought to tweak ‘n tune the Ford Mustang GT, leaving aside a very capable starting package of the Mustang coupe…until now.

MRT Performance debuted their “TKO” 2012 Ford Mustang coupe at the 2011 SEMA show in Las Vegas & yes, it certainly made an impression!  Starting by making this V6 Mustang scream like it’s older brother was only the beginning.  MRT has completely transformed the 2012 Mustang into a full-fledged road racer ready to rip the track apart.

From forced induction to a complete suspension and braking insanity, the TKO has most anything you can fathom to get gobs of grins!  So much of a knock-out punch, the TKO was awarded the 2011 Outstanding SEMA Design Achievement Award.

Paul Brown takes the #50 BOSS 302S Ford Mustang to the top

All summer long, we kept Ford Mustang fans posted on the hot racing action Paul Brown has put down in the #50 2012 Mustang BOSS 302S racer and now, he’s got even more to be proud of.  Brown recently placed first in the 2011 Pirelli World Challenge Race, solidifying the GTS Championship title.  Just one more race remains in the 2011 season, but Brown has already matched honors with the legendary BOSS 302 racer, Parnelli Jones–if he gets one more “W” in his final race at Road Atlanta, he’ll get to scribe his name in the books of Ford Mustang racing legends.

Awesome. We saw Tiger Racing’s Mustang in action back in June at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit and seriously, it put a good hurting on the track.  Brown’s got some good mojo going behind the wheel of this 2012 BOSS 302S and we wish nothing but the best for him & Tiger Racing.
