VIN #0001 1969 Shelby GT 350 poised to bring half a Million $

Auctions and sales of the Ford Mustang have continued to captivate the best of us, and this time, we’ve found one of the craziest ones we’ve seen in a long time. VIN #1 of the renowned 1969 Shelby GT350 Mustang variety is up for sale for $495,000 USD. That’s just plain silly, if you ask us. Half a million dollars for a Ford Mustang? C’mon, even we aren’t that crazy. This kind of money puts a potential sucker buyer into some amazing supercar territory for purchase.  So if one’s truly interested in turning heads, then there might be some other avenues of pursuit…

With just over 51K miles on the clock, this car is in rather good shape for consideration, actually.  The interesting part which took us for a few seconds–it’s a right-hand-drive, Australian car.  Crazy to think the first 1969 production Shelby Mustang was destined for the land down under.  The car carries the Vin# of 9F03M480001, proving it is not something to joke about.

What’ll be most interesting will be to see if this one actually goes for what ‘s being asked.  So far, no one’s made a solid bite–yet.  We poked around the shop on this one a little bit, and we think we’ll see this one on the Barrett-Jackson block before too long.  Until then…

Awesome 1969 Shelby GT500 barn find for auction

OK, OK, yeah, we know.  These barn finds do seem to get a tad wearing at times.  That being said, seriously, this Ford Mustang isn’t one to simply flip past in haste.  We don’t share every single “oh, man, that’s awesome” instance of these we come across.  Sometimes, we think maybe we should…

Anyway–this 1969 Shelby GT500 Mustang is definitely one for the record books, given the fact every single facet of its life has zero room for doubt.  How’s that?  Let’s try for Larry Brown’s original bill of sale, loan amortization, maintenance records galore, and the ultimate testament to his preservation methodology: plastic trash bags.  Oh, and the classic “this thing never sees rain” theology applies here, too.

All triteness aside, this Shelby GT500, with its sub-10,000 mileage, is for sure going to fetch an easy 6 figure auction price.  Given the fact it’s made internet stardom in the past week or so only helps fuel the fire, too.

Need for Speed movie’s Ford Mustang chase tribute

There is no doubt the upcoming Need for Speed movie is going to be a total thrill ride.  Yeah, it might sound a little trite to say this, but seriously.  The 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang.  A gaming movie set to pay homage to amateur speed fetishes, chase scenes from Hollywood past, and let’s not forget–simply awesome sports & super cars.  Did we mention the Mustang is making yet another silver screen appearance.  Right.  Got it.

Yes, that is a Ford Shelby GT500 Wagon

It seems like everyone is gearing up with plenty of anticipation for the Ford Mustang one-off extravaganza this  year (as expected) at the SEMA 2013 show.  Just ahead of the show’s coverage, however, we wanted to show you something that particularly caught our Mustang eye…a Shelby GT500 wagon.  Yes, you read that right.

Strand Craft, a builder of super yachts, has taken on the task of putting up the bragging rights for a Shelby GT500 with its very own vast cargo hold.  The guys over at Autoblog caught wind of this, and tasked their talents to render up what this car is aimed to appear as, in the photo included here.  ”When” is the only question we have left to answer–and that’s easy enough–April 2014.  Funny thing, that; the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang just keeps getting better and better…

Check in with Europe’s true Ford Mustang Man

This next (video) chapter in the Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary story is definitely a cool one…and it’s from a true enthusiast from across the pond, as well as the Rhine.  Take a moment to breeze through this video feature, and you’ll quickly see that Ralf Wurm is likely one of the biggest fans of the Mustang in Europe; and maybe the world.  With over 30 years of exposure and daily 12-14 hour immersion with our favorite pony car, he’s definitely got a leg up on pretty much the 95th percentile when it comes to true fanaticism about the Mustang.

The video following shows just how deeply genuine Ralf’s passion truly is, how he helps others come to the hobby, and provides us with a peek at his favorite Mustang–a 1969 Shelby GT500 he’s personally restored in entirety.

“Need For Speed” Ford Mustang to debut at Fundraiser

Back in mid-June, we told you about a Ford Mustang making an appearance in the Need For Speed movie, and this week, we’ve learned the very car that’s going to be in the movie will make an appearance at the “Get Your Heart Racing” Pit Party on September 13th.  The Pit Party gala will incorporate Mega 80s entertainment as well as a live auction and is to be held in Eastern Market’s Shed 3.

The following day will hold host to a day at the track right on Ford’s very own Proving Grounds in Dearborn…how cool is THAT? Professional drivers will be on-hand to provide plenty of tire-smoking rides, demonstrations, and the most motivated attendees will get to get behind the wheel of an assortment of Ford vehicles.

See just how much the Shelby GT500 can do

We’ve all seen the crazy horsepower figures the Ford Mustang a la Shelby GT500 has put onto paper and also the pavement in the past couple of model years.  What we haven’t seen too much of is just what that sort of horsepower looks like when it’s unleashed by a driver with a serious lead foot.  In the feature we have in store for you, one of the Motor Trend editors takes a 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake out through the paces to see just how well a (measured for parasitic loss) 747hp / 611 lb-ft empowered Ford Mustang handles the paces of cruising, some pressured driving, and of course what the 1/4 mile has in store…after a few nodding passes.

Keep going to see video and check out the hard-to-refute results, and judge for yourself how manageable such power really is in a Ford Mustang…

Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang dyno shred video

Have you ever seen a Ford Mustang on a dynamometer?  Sure, many of us have.  Have you ever witnessed a dyno seize up while in action?  Maybe.  Well, has anyone caught a dyno seizing up and throwing in the towel with a Shelby GT500 putting down the power at the wheels?  Possibly.

But by now, we’re sure everyone has at least heard of this one.  It’s quite viral, and we are sure it’s made quite the impact on anyone who’s ever signed that waiver when putting their queen upon the dyno throne.

So go ahead, take a view, and see what you think.  Pretty sure we’d be the last to attend such a show at close range ever again.

Eleanor Ford Mustang fetches a cool $1M

Given the fact that “Gone in 60 Seconds” wasn’t exactly the most thrilling of story lines, we all know quite well the flick made up for most of its lacking allure with plenty of automobile eye candy.  Domestics, exotics, customs, chops, and more all adorned the silver screen for audiences to take in, but no car seemed to capture everyone’s attention like “Eleanor”, a highly-modified 1967 Shelby GT500.  And if you do not know of the care we speak, well then, you need to turn in your Mustang keys right now…

Shelbyfest Ford Mustang fans not deterred by damp weather

Leave it to a bunch of Ford Mustang fans to not give a rat’s _ _ _ about what nature puts on them, right?  The 7th annual Shelbyfest in Hermann, MO held host to some of the most dedicated Shelby Mustang fans, with a solid car show, dyno runs, and a cruise which almost was (rained out).  Shelby Mustang specimens from the classical beginnings to today’s GT500 and GT500 Super Snake flooded the streets in parade fashion, turning heads and keeping smiles burning.  There were even a few Cobras and some original Shelby GT-H classics that showed up.  Not bad, considering the soggy weather!

For a couple more shots, head over to the local news page and check out their coverage…
