Shelby American 50th Anniversary Ford Mustang models10 Jan

On the “eve” of the official Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary, Shelby American is announcing its latest & greatest installations in their Shelby Mustang lineup.  The Shelby GT500, Shelby GT350, and Shelby GT500 Super Snake are all decked out, poised to take the aftermarket by storm.  Lots of the digit “5″ in those two sentences…well, here is some more usage–there are only going to be 50 units of each produced, so it makes these latest Shelby Mustang specimens a bit more unique and in-demand.

Each of the 50th Anniversary Shelbys are getting the white or black paint coats, both with golden stripes to signify the 50th Anniversary of Carroll Shelby’s Ford Mustang operation.  Each Shelby Mustang will also feature 50th anniversary badges, customized interiors, Shelby wheels, 6-piston front braking, a custom car cover, and a VIN dedicated solely to the official Shelby registry.

Ford says 200mph was the 2013 Shelby GT500 goal14 Dec

As if the news of the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 receiving 650 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque wasn’t awesome enough, we also found the new Shelby snake was to be capable of 200mph.  When we read the details of this 200mph GT500 feat back in November, we were (for the lack of a better term here) floored.  C’mon, 200mph (stable) from a Mustang?  Crazy enough, it’s just what Ford had in mind the entire time.

Keep reading to get more on this fantastic accomplishment by Ford, Shelby and the SVT engineers & designers.

2013 Shelby GT500

After seeing how much attention went into the 2013 Ford Mustang for the masses, we knew that the 2013 Shelby GT500 would have an even more impressive showing on the docket in Los Angeles today.  The 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500 will be propelled by an all-aluminum 5.8-liter (351 c.i. anyone?) supercharged V8, rolling along with 650hp and 600 lb-ft of twisting force.  Additionally, Ford and the SVT team with Shelby’s crew left no stone unturned with updates and improvements to the entire powertrain, braking systems, gearing, and suspension tuning.

If that’s not enough, the new Shelby GT500 also gets a redesigned front grille, providing additional downforce at speed, an menacing splitter, roaring exhaust, and lots more fine touches any Mustang enthusiast will appreciate.

So what are you waiting for?  Get going and check out all the fine tuning Ford’s done to the next Mustang Shelby GT500!

2013 Mustang to inherit current GT500 cues01 Sep

The rumor mill is back in full swing once again, with everyone spinning ideas about what the 2013 Mustang (and beyond) will look like and just how much next year’s iteration will pave the way for the 2015 Mustang.  Ford Mustang fans are no doubt looking towards the 2015 Mustang and its potential redesign (again), but for now, the focus on the 2013 Mustang design concepts and power train is primary.  Not much has been officially released by Ford insofar as monumental updates, but many sources hint at the current Shelby GT500 as the template of sorts for the upcoming Ford Mustang design.

This Sunday past at Ford World Headquarters, Dearborn MI, the Mustang Owners of South East Michigan put on a great Ford Mustang exhibition which they hold annually.  The “Mustang Memories Car Show” held host to a series of awesome enthusiast and nostalgic events include the Mustang Dream Giveaway grand prize presentation, the National Boss Reunion, and the Bullitt Reunion.  On-site were some awesome Mustang personalities, including Vaughn Gittin Jr., Donald Farr with his spectacular new Boss 302 book, Dave Pericak (Mustang Chief Engineer), and Jamie Allison (Ford Racing).  The show (as always) was a stunning success for everyone involved.

Shelby American to bring back rent-a-racer Mustangs07 Jul

As we creep closer to the 50th Anniversary of the Shelby Mustang nameplate, the rumor mill keeps churning out the hot hits with notes that the new Shelby American team is set to release a limited series of 2012 Mustang rent-a-racer cars to the masses.  That’s right–it’s 1966 all over again!  So, just how do the talking heads keep the Joe Wrenches of America from swapping parts like they did in the Classic era…meh, we’ll let them fight that battle.  We’re just excited to get our hands on a 400+ horsepower 5.0 Mustang that we don’t have to tarp for a portion of the year, yet fully enjoy it on the road course or drag strip!

There isn’t much to go on just yet, as the last GT-H cars we saw posted in the limelight were those merely for sale; this time ’round, it looks like these add-on applied cars will be true rentals, ready for the rippin’ and the tearin’!

Stay tuned, as we’ll keep you posted as we hear more!

Official 2012 Shelby GT500 pics & intel30 Jun

If you haven’t yet seen the new 2012 Ford Shelby GT500 in person yet, then you will be pleasantly surprised that Ford isn’t changing a ton…rather, the 2012 GT500 will be a simple carryover from the 2011 model year.  That said, the 2012 Shelby GT500 will be packed with a few additional touches that will slightly separate it from its contemporary lineage.

Of which, the flavorings on the new GT500 Mustang come in the form of several interior upgrades including illuminated dual visor vanity mirrors, a universal garage door opener, and a healthy sun visor storage bin.  If a new Shelby owner opts for the SVT-fashioned Recaro front seats, then he/she will be up to par with the same seating found inside the 2012 Mustang Boss 302.

Some other tech found on the 2012 GT500 include the latest SYNC programming and the optional AppLink (free software offering voice control of applications stored on most any smartphone).

Keep reading to see the official PR from Ford, as well as a gallery of hot new images of the new 2012 Ford Shelby GT500!
