Shelby wide body kits for 2005-2009 Ford Mustang

A slice of Shelby American, known as Shelby Performance Parts, has now officially announced some sweet body panel offerings for the 2005 – 2009 Ford Mustang.  Back in January, we showed you a 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake (at the NAIAS) equipped with the Shelby Wide Body Kit, and it was just shy of completely awesome.  After everyone saw the candy red Super Snake Mustang at the show, the requests soon started to flood in for the kit.  The neat thing about this offering is those who want to get it installed don’t have to send their Mustang off to one of the Shelby facilities in Las Vegas; the kits can be installed by any reputable custom or body shop of choice.

The 2005 – 2009 Shelby Wide Body kits for the Ford Mustang are available in two versions: a complete package, which has both front and rear panels, adding 6″ of fender to the rear…and there’s also a rear-only option, if one doesn’t want to add any flare to the front quarter panels. Also included with both packages are a Shelby Billet fuel door, all necessary installation instructions, special tools, all the hardware required for the install.

2013 Shelby 1000 S/C Mustang screams out 1200 horsepower

Do you think 1,200 horsepower is enough?  Well, before answering the question, make sure you’ve actually driven a vehicle possessing such power before going further.  Yeah, exactly.  We haven’t either, unless we could count a diesel locomotive with 6,000 horsepower…but that’s another story entirely unrelated to the Ford Mustang.  Shelby American today announced their latest Shelby 1000 S/C Mustang, pumping out an insane amount of pavement-pounding power: 1,200, to put the rating to the racks.

So what does one do with a Ford Mustang pumping out 1,200 horsepower?  Ummm, grin huge…and for the entire duration of ownership.  This is what happens when Shelby American is tasked to 1-up themselves from the prior model year (2012) and its production of 1,000hp…which is still a completely silly amount of power to have in a streetable, yet quite strip-worthy Mustang.

Given this potency of power, this Shelby Mustang comes with quite the healthy price tag.  The 2013 Shelby 1000 S/C boasts a sticker shock value of $154,995–and that’s after shelling out the $54,995 for the base 2013 Shelby GT500.  So is nearly $210K worth 1,200 in a Mustang?  Keep reading to get the dirty details in the Press Release and see for yourself.

USPS issues Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 stamp

Once again, the Ford Mustang is going to make its way across the United States of America.  This tidbit, however, doesn’t involve a coast-to-coast cruise and several stops at McDonald’s.  For the second official time, the Mustang is to be honored on the United States of America Post Office Stamp of mailing.  One of the featured stamps will exhibit a 1967 Shelby GT500, amongst many others else-wise: 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1969 Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevelle SS, and 1970 Hemi Cuda.

These “muscle car” stamps will be rolled out as Forever stamps in self-adhesive sheets of 20 (four of each design) and can be picked up any local USPS site, at usps.com/stamps, or by calling 800-STAMP-24.

Tribute 2013 Shelby GT500 hit the block

Remember earlier this week, we told you the Barrett-Jackson auction would have a host of Ford Mustang specimens up for grabs?  Well, one in particular caught our eye earlier this afternoon.  A one-off special edition 2013 Shelby GT500 Mustang hit the block and ended up ticking out a healthy$150,000 closing price.  This dollar amount benefits a good charitable cause, so it’s not just another high-priced Mustang sale all for naught.  This car is also signed by Ford CEO Alan Mulally as well as Bill Ford Jr, and Edsel Ford.

2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake Wide Body

If you didn’t already get a chance to catch it at the 2013 North American International Auto Show, then here is an opportunity to get as much of the 850 horsepower 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake “Wide Body” as you can handle.  This venomous beast starts with the already crazy-powerful stock 2013 GT500 (662hp, anyone?) and ups the ante to a 50-state-legal 850hp…on 91-octane fuel.  Add to it the new “Wide Body” option to help its performance as well as appearance, and you’re beholding what’s likely the best Shelby Mustang, to date.

The 13″ rear and 10″ front wheels help give the 2013 Shelby GT500 “Wide Body” its excessively aggressive raked look, as a true throwback to muscle cars of the past. “The optional wide body package isn’t just a cosmetic change, it now gives the Super Snake much more traction and makes it easy to exploit the Shelby’s potential right past the competition.” said Gary Davis, vice president of production at Shelby American.

What’s more, aside from insane amounts of Mustang muscle, is prospective buyers can select from a few choice hues: Satin Black, Gloss White, Silver, Blue and Red stripes.  Additionally, and for the first time, wheel options include a rear-only or front and rear “wide body” packages.

2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

It seems like the closer we get to 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang, the bar keeps being raised higher and higher.  Shelby American is going to be one of the many key players in the aftermarket upping ante with their release of the 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake.  Their base model pumps out 662hp and carries an optional upgrade to push out 850hp…substantial amounts, regardless of purpose, we think.  One key point to not here, is Shelby American is lowering their entry point base price and leaving a “more coin” approach to upgrades to get to the 850hp mark–along with a plethora of options, performance upgrades aside from the power train, and all the given accoutrements that come with the 2013 Shelby GT500.

So, does this sound like something you might go for?  If so, you’d better get your ducks in a row, as there will only be 500 of 2013 Shelby Super Snakes built, in either coupe or convertible (inclusive).  Keep reading to get the rest of the juicy details in the official Press Release.

One-off GT500 Ford Mustang pays homage to Carroll Shelby

On the eve of the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang and recently losing a motorsports legend, Ford Racing and Shelby American have announced a 2013 Shelby GT500 that dispenses an incredible amount of power…850 horses under-hood, to be exact.  This 2013 GT500 is aimed at commemorating the legends of both the Ford Mustang as well as the man who had a dramatic influence in the pony car’s lineage.

The 2013 Shelby Cobra of concern achieves this awesome power feat by starting with the (already “healthy”) 662-horsepower 2013 Shelby GT500 and jumps to an output of 850 horsepower via  a Ford Racing 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger.   There’s also its menacing stance, 345 wide rear rubber, upgraded braking, and a killer color (Guardsman Blue, striped with Wimbledon White) setting this Shelby GT500 above all the rest.
