Meet the 2012 Roush Stage 3 Ford Mustang

What do you get in a 2012 Mustang from Roush Performance that you don’t get from a sampling straight from the showroom floor?  LOTS.  Try taking the new 5.0-liter power plant and slapping a ROUSHcharger on it to let it breathe, bolstering 540HP and 465 ft/lbs of torque, up from the stock setting of 412hp.  Pushing 12psi of intercooled boost definitely helps this high-revving monster V8 step it up to the next level and provide smiles for miles.

Roush Performance isn’t just going to let it stop there, however.  True to their standards of enthusiast excellence, they are adding in some aggressive handling components, an aggressive body kit, and most importantly, Roush backs it up with a 3 year / 36K mile power train warranty!

2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake has 800hp

So, what street nickname do we call the 2012 Shelby GT500 Super Snake by?  The GT800?  Nah, that doesn’t roll off the tongue as well as “GT500″ or “Super Snake” at all.  That said, Shelby American is ready to let loose the latest installation of Ford Mustang horsepower madness with the 2012 Ford Shelby GT500 debut at the forthcoming New York International Auto Show.  With 800 horsepower, the Super Snake is most definitely poised to be the one that steals the spotlight of the show.  It’s pretty amazing to think about, with this car coming about, and having the same amount of horsepower available as professional racing cars of the past and present…and maybe the future.

Gateway Classic Mustang builds tribute to McQueen

Every now and then, we catch wind of someone’s project and are so happy that people are still so focused upon old-school Ford Mustang special editions.  The latest in the news is the 1968 Steve McQueen Signature Mustang, released by a joint effort between Gateway Classic Mustang and the Steve McQueen estate.  This 1967 or 1968 Ford Mustang beauty should ring familiar bells and lay hue & give cues to the very car driven in the 1968 film’s San Francisco chase sequence.

The 1968 Steve McQueen Signature Edition is definitely no slouch on style, performance, or all-around goodness.  Check out the gallery as well as the press release for more details on the car’s build.

It’s Back: 2012 Mustang Boss 302

This year has to be one of the most exciting ever to be a Ford Mustang fan.  Why?  The legendary 5.0 has made its return, for starters.  The base Mustang coupe pumps out over 300hp with insane fuel economy metrics.  Now, we can focus our eyes upon one more fantastic Ford news bite: the 2012 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 is a reality!  We’d hinted at the return of a BOSS when we saw the BOSS 302R Mustang variant released & figured Ford was doing some initial viral marketing to test the waters.  So, here we are, looking down the barrel and we’ve got the 2012 BOSS Mustang in our sights.  This is simply awesome!

Virtually ever single vehicle system has been upgraded to legendary BOSS performance standards.  The engine, brakes, suspension, interior, exterior–the whole package has been geared up with one thing in mind: track performance & domination.  Not since 1968 have we seen Ford get this pumped up about a track terror and road machine, all wrapped into the same package.  We’ve gotta say, it’s been well worth the wait.

2011 Ford Shelby GT500 nearly sold out

It’s no secret once the 2011 Ford Mustang was promised to return with the legendary 5.0-liter V8 that the car and its many Ford variants would sell like ice cream in the Mojave desert.  So what happens when we  have a Mustang coupe with a V6 pumping out over 300hp and a Mustang GT producing over 400hp?  You wonder just how awesome the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 had to be.

Well, the 550 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque (10 horsepower increase vs model year 2010) equipped 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 is just that–awesome.  It’s so popular (and much better in all ways) that Ford is going to limit the 5,500 production set of the Shelby GT500 to maintain exclusivity of the car.  This is great for would-be 2011 GT500 owners, but not so great if you happen to be the 5,501st person to place your order.  What’s more daunting is that over 3,300 orders have already been filed to date, leaving under half of the production run up for grabs.

So what do you think about this, guys?  Good move (production limitations) by Ford?  Not so good?  Let us hear it in the comments–in the meantime, check out the Press Release from Ford to get the rest of the scoop.
