After seeing how much attention went into the 2013 Ford Mustang for the masses, we knew that the 2013 Shelby GT500 would have an even more impressive showing on the docket in Los Angeles today.  The 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500 will be propelled by an all-aluminum 5.8-liter (351 c.i. anyone?) supercharged V8, rolling along with 650hp and 600 lb-ft of twisting force.  Additionally, Ford and the SVT team with Shelby’s crew left no stone unturned with updates and improvements to the entire powertrain, braking systems, gearing, and suspension tuning.

If that’s not enough, the new Shelby GT500 also gets a redesigned front grille, providing additional downforce at speed, an menacing splitter, roaring exhaust, and lots more fine touches any Mustang enthusiast will appreciate.

Well, you knew the return of the BOSS Mustang would fan the flames & rumors about the Ford Mustang and its glories of yesteryear. The latest buzz from the bees today is we might just see the return of a turbocharged Ford Mustang from the Ford factory floor, a la SVO from the 1980s. The rumor mill is churning up such ideas of the 2015 Mustang being one offering 3 potential power plants: 2 a la boost and the last being the newfound 5.0-liter Coyote V8.

And why wouldn’t we see this come to fruition? Ford’s already proven the EcoBoost power plant to be a solid, viable option for the F-series pickup truck, so what’s to prevent them from slamming the boosted beauty into the hear of America’s favorite pony car?

Not much. And that’s precisely what we are hoping for…

We know there’s a long line of people who wish they had a 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R by SVT in their garage…and an even longer line of people who pine after one that’s completely without blemish.  How cool would it be to have your very own unmolested Ford Mustang, let alone one from Coletti’s legacy at Ford’s SVT division?  Sound like something you’re interested in?  Well…here’s your chance.  Better hurry and at least browse the auction, as it has just over a week remaining.

It’s no secret once the 2011 Ford Mustang was promised to return with the legendary 5.0-liter V8 that the car and its many Ford variants would sell like ice cream in the Mojave desert.  So what happens when we  have a Mustang coupe with a V6 pumping out over 300hp and a Mustang GT producing over 400hp?  You wonder just how awesome the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 had to be.

Well, the 550 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque (10 horsepower increase vs model year 2010) equipped 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 is just that–awesome.  It’s so popular (and much better in all ways) that Ford is going to limit the 5,500 production set of the Shelby GT500 to maintain exclusivity of the car.  This is great for would-be 2011 GT500 owners, but not so great if you happen to be the 5,501st person to place your order.  What’s more daunting is that over 3,300 orders have already been filed to date, leaving under half of the production run up for grabs.

Wow!  Just when we thought the 2011 Ford Mustang lineup couldn’t get any better, the Cobra R model looks like it is slated for an official return to the SVT stable.  This leaked press kit photo from what appears to be Venice, California shows what looks to be one of the most unique & incredible 2nd-gen S197 Mustangs we’ve seen to date.  From its audacious rear wing to its venomous front fascia, this Ford Mustang has definitely got the makings for a race-ready track terror.  There is little doubt the  1993, 1995, and 2000 Cobra R models will welcome this latest creation with open arms as one of the few & true Spartan race cars ever produced.  Keep reading for more of a break down and a close-up shot. 2011 Shelby GT500

Today, the Ford cast & crew officially unveiled the 2011 Shelby GT500 in all its detailed glory.  This time around, however, the latest GT500 has a few more niceties included and some even sweeter options to choose from.  For 2011, the GT500 gets the aluminum block, supercharged 5.4-liter V8 power plant and starts just under $49,500, delivered.  So aside from this standard hoofbeat, the 2011 GT500 also gets the chance for a SVT Performance Package to be applied to raise the performance bar even higher.  We’ve teased about what this package includes…so what’s it got to ante up?  How much bang for the buck has Ford packed into this latest Mustang offering?  Keep reading to find out.

Keeping this week’s East Coast theme cruising on, we wanted to tell you about a slick Ford Mustang event to be held at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA.  Over the past couple of years, the organizers of the event have been able to land participating Mustang racers on the pavement at Daytona International Speedway (2007) and Rockingham Speedway & Dragway (2008).  Everyone is ultra-pumped this year to roll onto the world-class VIR and tear up some tires!  In addition to the Mustang racing action, there will be a myriad of other activities to keep everyone in the family occupied & having a great time.  Keep reading to get the details in the Press Release.

What is this? Has the StangNet staff gone mad? Posting a truck on the home page? Not mad; flat-out impressed. While the 2010 Ford SVT Raptor isn’t exactly “news” any longer, we did stumble upon a video clip regarding the upcoming SVT Raptor development documentary and just knew we had to share it to our fellow Ford fans out there. This hi-po variant on the Ford F-150 is an insanely capable off-road machine equipped to handle the dunes, let alone the grocery or home improvement store. The whole upgrade from the base F-150 the Raptor receives is pretty amazing: power (320hp / 390 lb-ft), suspension, trim, and yeah…power. Did we mention power? Yeah, the heart of a 5.4 liter V8 as well as a savage 6.2 liter V8 have been prepped for insertion. (more…)

Just ahead of the 45th Anniversary celebration for the Ford Mustang, several enthusiasts set up to gather and cruise across the USA from Las Vegas to Birmingham for the festivities.  The cross-country trip started on April 11th and will end in Birmingham on April 15th.  Over 600 Ford Mustangs from over a dozen states will participate in the event, which will be paced by none other than a 2010 Shelby GT500, adorned in red, white, and blue.  Upon arrival, fanatics will be able take part in the largest Mustang celebration in history, with hundreds of thousands of spectators expected to attend!  Check out all the specific details within the Press Release we’ve included for you.

Just days ago, we showed you the first official images of the 2010 Shelby GT500 and now, they have let this hot 2010 Mustang a la Shelby out of the bag for all to see in person at the Detroit Auto Show this weekend.  With star-struck fans surrounding the sweet SVT Snake, Mark Fields (Ford President of the Americas) made the official announcement for the 2010 GT500, sending chills down everyone’s spine.  What we found the coolest at the debut, however, was the Grabber Blue convertible that stole the show.  With its roaring presence for all to hear, it definitely captivated the attention it deserves.  There’s even a photo we snagged of the Grabber Blue GT500 convertible laying down some sweet-smelling rubber on stage to add a little bit of shock and awe to the debut.  Keep reading to digest the Ford Press Release and all the images from the 2010 Shelby GT500 unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show.
