2015 Ford Mustang and its aero design focus

It might come as a surprise to some, but to those following the overall 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang saga unfold all this time, it really isn’t that dramatic to bear witness to.  What’s that, one might ask?  It’s the attention to detail we are witnessing Ford pour into their latest rendition of the prized pony car on the eve of its half-century historical marker.  The 2015 Mustang prototypes passed all around the proving grounds & test  labs have been subjected to plenty of grueling procedures to ensure this is going to be one for the record books.

Ford has put a lot of time in the actual appearance of the car, but deeper below the surface of aesthetics, we find the appearance leads way to many innovative design techniques which, until now, have been often been reserved for premium European-crafted automobiles.  Between hours galore in the wind tunnel and its tape-inspired lines and edges, the 2015 Mustang is well on its way to making marks in many log books for its improvements in fuel economy, reduced wind buffeting & noise, and dramatic improvements in profile drag & turbulence.

It might sound like a bunch of nonsense to a group of enthusiasts who are commonly excited about simple exhaust drone or rumble, but hey, this notion of a Mustang actually seeing some dramatic refinement should not come as a huge surprise to all of us.  Especially when the car is headed towards a global marketplace.  We think it’s pretty cool Ford’s stepped it up this much.  The only downside we can find is that all this “fancy” stuff, as some might put it, continues to bump that precious sticker price further up, making it a harder for some of the old school crowd to readily achieve ownership…lest we digress.
