Saleen new inlet/intake for Series II

  • Sponsors (?)

quick question: Does a S4 blower fit on the lower intake of the S2 blower?

No, the Series II is an Eaton MP90. The Series IV is a Lysholm 2300AX (renamed the 140AX). They're not even in the same league. let alone the same dimesions.

Are you stuck on the Saleen? If so, i'd say you're SOL. If it says Saleen (or Roush for that matter) on the front of it, count on it being about 35% more expensive than anyplace else. If not, the Tork Tech with the TVS 1900 will outperform that set up for a lot less. Hell, even the M112 would probably match its performance since it utilizes a better manifold and heavier duty intercooler core.

well I wanted to have the somewhat original look as its a real Saleen. But I do like the KB2.6l alot (will I need a bigger hood?).
I noticed that on ebay I can find a 03-04 M112 dirt cheap! is that the same as the TT kit?

No, the older 03-04 cobra was an M112. but Tork Tech uses the new Magnuson/Eaton rotor case combination (Generation 5). The 112 is strictly a designation of the blower size. The Gen. 5 is a 3 lobe rotor, 60 degree helix. It made an additional 45-50 horse over the old style. The Tork Tech does fit under the Saleen hood with its own 8 rib belt drive system.
There were several companies working on manifolds to adapt a 03-04 blower on a GT, but both have given up from what I understand. The problem was trying to make boost with the stock 6 inch lower pulley, running off the stock accessory belt. You can't make the lower pulley any larger, without going to a secondary larger pulley like on the cobra's, Supercoupes and Lightnings. You were limited to about 7-8 pounds evn with a 2.8 upper.

I beleive Torque Tech has that covered as well....http://www.torktech.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=16

I think the Lysholm (Whipple) 2300AX is the 2.3L Saleen Series V that was on the 2002 - 2004 Extremes. The Series IV's were 1600AX's or 1.6L Whipples.

Just a quick update! I just scheduled an appointment with Dynospeed for 8:00 am on Thursday, July 3rd! They've been booked up for a while now.

There's been a lot of great post on this thread! Thanks guys!:flag:

I'm thinking of putting on my 66mm pulley for the dyno. Does anyone know what size belt i will need? I have the Mosaleen idler pulley on as well.

Quoting Scott Van Hoose "the size of the belt for the 2.66 pulley real tight is 111.5 and will stretch out to be about right. 112 is tight going on to, but stretches out to much for my preferance."

I didn't quote myself, if I read that right! I have results. Give me a sec to upload my dynosheet.

Pbm.cc did, i was really just teasing.

Here we go!

First of all I would like to say what a great job Joe at Dynospeed did. He really took the time to get my car running right. Great guy, great service, and I couldn't have put my car in better hands! Now for the numbers!

I'd have to say I was really disappointed... at first! My first pull was around 319 and couldn't understand why. Then we discovered two issues. My intercooler pump fuse had blown, so we were looking as a huge heat soaked blower. Fixed that, and then came the fuel pump! Someone please correct me if i'm wrong, but a SVT Focus fuel pump is rated for 400-425 rwhp! The pump was professionally installed yesterday, so there's no issue there. I PEGGED it out at 319! They had to install a Boost-a-pump to keep up with the air flow! I don't know of anyone who has had to use a boost-a-pump on their Saleen blower! Everyone said that the Focus would support the Saleen. If i'm wrong, say so! My best pull was 353hp and 373 tq, but the a/f was way lean. Joe fixed the problem and the car feels amazing strong now!!

This was done on a Dynojet and Joe informed me that if it had been done on a Mustang dyno, the numbers would have been higher. I don't know if the people that have seen around 400 had their car done on a mustang dyno or not! I honestly never looked. I'm not trying to add fuel to the fire on Dynojet vs. Mustang dyno. My numbers are what they are! The true test will be what numbers I will see when I take it to the track! If 344hp and 365tq is great for a Saleen on a Dynojet, please let me know! Air inlet temps ran from 138 to 148. There are two things I feel good about. That I maxed out a Focus fuel pump and the Tork Tech allowed me to see peak hp above 6000 rpm!

Those #s are about right for the series 2 on a dynojet. As for being higher on a mustang dyno that would be incorrect. The #s on a dynojet are about 10% HIGHER. I made 335hp and 360tq with my series 2 on a dynojet with the stock series 2 blower and the chicane 66mm pulley. It felt better than stock but no where near how the kb 1.7 felt at 9# and 405hp and 430tq. The dyno is just a # so take it to the track and tell us how it does.:nice:
