5.4-4v Navigator engine swap?!?

hey boss330- I was wading through the thread on the corral, and have a question. If i want to stay NA with the Nav engine, is it that importent to go for the forged internals? all im lookin for is an upgrade for a street/ocassional track car. the miles on my car are gettin up there on mine, but I love the car. id rather swap then buy a new car. what do you think, cause id rather not spend $$$ to have a new engine opened up.

sounds to be a bit much for a 4V guy... a 2V guy would need some serious dough too though when a s/c would not be too far off IMO.

I dunno... I still like the KB too much.

(then again I haven't posted in like a month and a half and that is like 9 years in Stangnet time... so who knows what is new now. So much catching up to do)

The stock stuff is fine if you keep it under 6200 rpm.

Hoping for advice from the oracle ...

Boss_330: You are the world recognized expert on this, so your advice is the most valuable. :hail2: Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am researching doing a DOHC 5.4 swap for my 4.6 SOHC. Would you mind pointing me to a place where I can learn about what that would involve? I have searched the 5.4 swap bible (http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10896), but there is so much there that it is kinda like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I have found a 2000 Navigator long block for about $500 with abt 25K miles on it for a donor. Is that a good starting point?

Lastly, what would be the best mods to bring the HP up to about 350 and flatten out the torque curve?

Thanks, Chris
