To me it is a misnomer because the only non performance improved aspect of the 96-98 car is the intake manifold.

Anyway...post up your mods (non headswaped cars only) and any dyno/track numbers you have. I'm interested in seeing who has stayed with the stock heads and their performance numbers. Bone stock to all out modded are welcome.

See my numbers and mods in sig. Note I have a modest tune since I had over 120K miles after my cam swap and 140K miles when I got my tune.

Since my car is undergoing the head swap--I still count for this :rlaugh:

I had most of the basic bolt ons before a timing chain snapped which resulted in bent valves and shot pistons. I had a thread with pictures and it wasn't pretty. I should had replaced the chains when I installed the cams :(

I had intentions of staying with NPI heads, however since mine were destroyed and Winters hooked me up with some PIs I really had no option.

By far the best mod that was done on my car had to be the transmission work (aww yes...a lovely 4r70w here;)). The gears (3.73s) only helped with that and the car actually was capable of decent 60's.

My current setup, once I finally get it all pieced back of course, is going to be pretty basic but should surprise quite a few people. The car will be a full pi (heads/cams/intake) along with new pistons since I ruined 4 :rlaugh: I believe after all is said and done..this car will be low 13s as I was running a 13.7-13.8 near 100 on the npi heads.

I will also have to get retuned to make sure im not looking at crazy a/f ratios, though once I get that settled, it's on to Houston Raceway :nice:

Being that I have the motor torn apart I will take some extra pictures today of some of the damage. The only pictures that I have aren't the best though are HERE. Don't want to take away from this thread any as I like the idea ;)

The only "simple" mod that I was missing were longtubes, and that is about to change with this setup :nice:

At 150,000+ miles I installed the following below. The best et was 14.20's at 97-98 mph. No dyno was done. The engine needed head work it started smoking every time it idled, so I went over to the dark side an installed one from an 01 model.:hail2:

BBK CAI
BBK 75mm TB
BBK o/r H-pipe
Ford racing C springs
Ford racing Alum Drv shaft
Steeda under drive pulleys
PI intake
3:27 gears 5spd.
2 1/4 40 series flowmasters.

vortech v-1 s-trim with 10# pulley
snow performance meth kit
pi cams
livernois pi intake conversion
90mm lightning maf
39# injectors
anderson powerpipe
75mm accufab plenum
stock headers
bassani catted x-pipe
magnaflow catback

prolly missing a few little things but that is major stuff. i am making 375 rwhp and 389 ft lbs of torque on a very very safe tune from livernois.:nice: i am putting a paxton intercooler on this winter for my last performance mod. i see no need to do heads now cause i have just about reached the stock rod potential already. if i ever blow this thing up then i will do a shortblock with ported heads. no track times. its a convertible that weighs damn near 4,000 lbs!!!:(

Note 2: Catted Exhaust with safe conservative tune on 91 Octane Fuel
Note 3: 363 RWHP 370 RWTQ with Power Steeriing Bypass belt and turn downs bolted onto the X-Pipe instead of the mufflers on the same above tune with 91 Octane fuel.
Note 4: Car had Power Steering Issues before and when it was on the dyno, Power Steering pump has been replaced after car was on the Dyno. That *may* play into the discretion between running the PS and PS Bypass belts...

My mods are PI cams PI intake, Bassani Catted X w/bassani muffs, 3.90s, Steeda pulleys, on stock (untouched) NPI heads.

Dyno-wise, I made 229rwhp prior to the 70mm TB and TF upper intake and am still on stock tune with stock timing (no T/A either). Best 1/4 mile time is 13.72 with 1.9 60' with DRs.

I'm on the closer to stock side with 150k miles as well. Only mod is an off-road H pipe. Everything else was stock... paper filter, street tires, stock shifter. Quarter mile times are in my sig.

My car has pretty much full bolt ons, pi intake and a procharger at 10 psi with 115k on it

Ran 12.8 at 113 on street tires with a turd trans.

Getting my built trans in right now with a 3600-3800 converter so im looking forward to low 12s if not high 11s

Im gonna need some new tires of course

Pretty nice times with your mods. I need to catch up.

LI and Comp, what were your 2 1/8 mile times and trap speeds? I'm curious were I would have been. My 60 ft was only a 1.97-1.99 on my runs, I was launching off the limiter but did not have enough gear to get the car in the 1.8 to low 1.9 range.
