2001 gt won't turn over after some work

the car will not click or turn over. im pretty positive this is an electrical issue. im being told on other forums that it could be a bad computer or need re-flashed since my pats is flashing and clicking
So not clicks or anything but will turn over by hand. Honestly it sounds like a dead battery or one that needs charged. Try jumping it.

tried jumping it, starter wire is hooked up. im at a loss so i had the car towed to the ford dealership.
from what i am hearing on other forums this seems like its either an anti theft system problem, or a computer problem.
so ive decided to swallow my pride and let the professionals handle this since ive troubleshot this for hours with no leads... i really feel embarrased because i wanted to do it myself but i want it fixed.

Do you have the correct key? :rlaugh:.

Very odd issue. Its soo hard to troubleshoot **** online! I mean it sounds like a simple fix.

deffinatly sounds like a PATS/ECU problem. The flashing lights is a direct indication of that. Perhaps when you disconnected the battery it screwed something up. Rare, but I have seen it before. It's problem not anything you did, just coincidental that it happened while your car was ripped apart. Good luck bro.

that's what im thinking also. and before it got towed to the stealership i tried leaving the battery disconnected for a while and it would do the same thing again.... havent heard anything from the dealership yet

:bs: well about noon i heard from the dealership... they are telling me that the battery was so shot they couldn't get the diagnostics to read it or anything. and that they tested the battery twice and it is definitely bad. this is probably my stupidity of overlooking it. the battery would seem to charge up to 15v then id try to crank it over and it would shoot down to like 3v. i figured it was just a short somewhere, didn't expect the battery to be dead. :nonono:

so they put in a new battery and tell me that it will crank but not fire... also that its not throwing any codes. im betting this is another screw up on my part because when i changed the timing chain it may have moved a tooth or two? this would cause it to not fire correct? anyways they said they were going to test the fuel system because it acted like it was starving for gas. i guess you have to go through these things when your a noob and have no local knowledge of modmotors

Engine won't turn over?

Did you touch the cam shaft sensor in anyway? If it was removed or is broken due to your timing chain replacement, that may be your problem. If the computer does not receive a signal from the cam shaft sensor, the engine may not turn over, not really sure. However, it is something to think about. Good luck, Tommy.

alright guys, here's the skinny. Battery WAS dead, which is why the car would not turn over. it was my own stupidity for overlooking that. they are now telling me that the car is turning over like normal but it will not fire. so my guess is that its out of time from when i changed the chain.

Just a thought, but did you remove your spark plug wires prior to removing the cam covers for the timing belt change? If so, and you did not draw a wiring diagram, but just hooked them up the way an aftermarket manual said to, there is a very high probability they are connected wrong. Most manuals have an incorrect firing order/wiring diagram listed. Tell the dealership to reference their shop manual for the correct wiring diagram.

Hope this helps.

i took pictures and replaced all the plugs as they were.

would my symptoms of the timing being off just a bit be the car not firing?

I too was victim of this EXACT same thing...... Used an autozone diagram and it was WRONG...... We ended up re timing the cams, replacing the sprocket and crank sensor pu wheel from the 03 pi motor with the 98 npi b/c we thought that maybe the were just different enough to not work. 3 days of work for nothing b/c it was the damn wires all along... :notnice:
