Have you guys seen this?

This thread is ridiculous. Agree with three posts above. I've yet to see someone post comparative weights and power outputs of comparative setups from real world, or theoretical, experience. Well you people made the statements, PROVE IT.

The guy put a 510 CUBIC INCH TWIN TURBO ENGINE INTO AN SN95! How are you all not loving this project? Do you even like cars?

People haven't even read the thread and are critical... you all should run for office and vote for these 2000 page bills that 0bama and his administration don't read. Maybe you should check the thread and learn why he used a viper engine?

Come on Adam, its not a ford engine! How DARE anyone mix 2 AMERICAN MUSCLE engines. :nono:

Its always easier to talk about someone else and to shoot them down. If that was the case, why does anyone bother with h/c/i on our stock 302s? Why isnt everyone just buying a welder and doing a turbo kit and making 500rwhp? Its easier right? its cheaper right?

I HATE cookie cutter cars. And sometimes...unless u have one, you're the red headed step childed everyone loves to hate.

Are lame jokes your way of avoiding the discussion?
What’s even funnier is that you actually think I was joking. ;) Besides, what more is there to discuss? He wanted to be unique, he got unique. He also IMO ruined a nice car by putting an overrated Mopar boat anchor under the hood. What more needs to be said. It has nothing to do with a narrow minded attitude, it’s just I and many others don’t like the idea of polluting a Ford vehicle with a non Ford engine.

Ford engine, in Ford car = cool

Although he could have gone with something more practical as well, at least he didn't taint the blue blood of the Ford, with Chevy orange or Dodge Yellow.

I much rather like the one built as a Ford test mule a few years ago myself.....

5.8L 4V V10 based around an all aluminum 4.6L DOHC long block (with two additional cylinders of course). Makes 430rwhp/405rwtq N/A and the engine actually clocked in lighter than the 5.4L V8.

....and this one doesn't sound like a weedwhacker running under water like the Viper does. ;)

Ha....thats great coming from a mod. Thought u were supposed to be the type to set the example of how people act at strict-ol-stangnet?

LOL Gotta love that :hail2:

Guess i gotta call my doctor to get a new prescription for my medication since we disagree. Perhaps you should pick up some reading glasses

I understand your opinions and a couple of them from people I actually respect! :) For those folks, I remind you that we are all car guys and I would still buy y'all a beer while we bicker over it. :nice: But I am not a fan of putting that dodge block in my Ford. Ever. No matter how much money I am bored with. Why it makes me cringe?..I have already listed a couple of reasons. But that's my o.

Im actually disappointed that he hasnt updated the thread for a bit. He moved on to a truck project for a change. Its bad ass, and I envy his skills to no end. He is only two hours from me and I would love to see it in person and shake his hand to a job well done.

Easy Jr. Don't get all pouty on me. I was just playing... :)

I think many of you are missing the fact that clearly having a 351 twin turbo was not unique enough for him. The guy has a turbo '03 cobra motor in it and got rid of it. So of course he could have gone another route that was FAR FAR easier, but clearly he wanted something crazy and out of this world that had a major amount of uniqueness. With that in mind I think he succeeded with flying colors. I'm guessing the guy knows the ins and outs of engine combos and this projecty was solely based on crazy power and crazy uniqueness. If the guy put a helicopter engine in his car I would say wow thats pretty ridiculous, but still amazingly unique.

I see a few of you talk brand loyal ,yet you took all the parts of of your FORD motors and replaced them with strokers and what not.

Why is that OK?

Suddenly what ford gave you wasn't good enough...I know I know:stirpot:

There’s no controversy.

There's a big difference between upgrading existing factory parts with aftermarket ones built specifically for your vehicle, to increase performance or longevity and performing a complete drivetrain swap with foreign components for a custom application because you’ve suddenly developed an urge to be different.

...and ruining the very essence of the vehicle in the process.

But its "cool" to throw an 03/04 cobra drivetrain in a fox? In a 94-98?

Thats not upgrading existing factory parts. Even putting 351s in isnt upgrading factory parts. And we even bring up big block motors? Are you really gonna go through that much trouble in our cars to do a Ford big block compared to a chevy big block? How about heads that arent just bigger than stock heads, they are designed entirely different. Yet since it matches the bolt pattern, its "cool" cause its comparable to a ford head?

What would happen if GM finally when to an OHC setup, or ford came back to pushrods.....and you could swap parts back and forth.

:D

a big block motor belongs in an old school muscle car IMO. Not something that is sleek and sexy like our cars. Maybe thats just the connection i make in my head when i think of "big block". A viper motor can consist of the same cubic inches.....but the thought comes with the sleek and sexy viper car. So its a better match in my head.

Just like if you had a 96-98 GT.....or ****, even a non 03/04 cobra motor DOHC.....a LSX sounds great IMO. Especially if you dont want to go forced induction. You love the stang body...but hate the 4.6 motor. U hate forced induction and want great performance N/A. A 5.3L LSX motor can be had for less than $500. :p

There's more than one way to skin a cat. I like this hobby for how creative people get to skin that cat....not for the simple fact that i can pull into a Ford parking lot and have 500 cars that have been modified exactly like mine. ESPECIALLY when ford's motors are not known for being "king" (without a blower that is). Maybe that can start to change in the future with the new 5.0 stuff coming...but for the last decade....

LOL

one last thing..................

I think an important thing to note is when modifying cars for a gain in performance, most of us are working in a tight budget. We'll say, "i have $5,ooo to spend to get 400rwhp, how can i get there" Obviously a viper motor isnt an option.

But for those guys out there that are in the situation to have money not be a limiting factor, the question simply boils down to "how can i get there". Thats it! We arent grocery shopping at Meijers trying to decide between the meijer brand and name brand food, and saying "well i can save $XX if i do this". Have you seen the projects this guy works on? Its not using the "meijer" brand route! lol

Therefore, saying "well u could have did the same thing for less" doesnt mean much.

Some of u may say the viper is looked down upon, but i'd have to disagree. But with that same argument, the new Z06 is a beast. Im sure everyone on every pay scale can agree that they'd gladly take one.

Now put the LS7 motor in my garage....and im gonna have that thing in my car.

I'll be honest...I didn't read all that, but the bottom line is...Ford to Ford, Chevy to Chevy, Dodge to Dodge.

A Ford engine swap no matter what the engine is still keeping blue blood in the veins, regardless whether the vehicle came equipped from the factory with it in the first place or not. I mean...the Fox4 chassis from '79-'04 has had everything in it from a 2.3L I-4, to a 4.6L DOHC, to big block 460 at one time or another with various production and project Ford cars, so it isn't exactly foreign territory to begin with. It’s still a Ford vehicle, with a Ford engine and that's the way it should be. :nice:

I don’t even like to see T-bucket hot rods with Chevy engines in them. It just isn’t right in my world and that’s how I feel about it.

Dodge today pulled the cover off the newest special-edition model of the 2010 Viper SRT10 lineup. The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X is a turn-key, non-street legal race car that is slated to make its on-track debut in the summer of 2010.

“The Dodge Viper ACR-X takes the performance attributes of Viper to an even higher level for a wide range of drivers starting with the grassroots racer all the way up to the professional,” Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, Dodge Brand and Senior Vice President—Product Design, said. “This project is a result of many years of performance engineering expertise from our SRT team, combined with the passion and dedication of Viper Nation, to keep the Viper racing tradition going strong on tracks around the country and the world.”

Combining the best performance attributes of the record-setting, street-legal Dodge Viper ACR (American Club Racer) and the safety equipment of championship-winning Viper Competition Coupe, the Viper ACR-X is powered by the SRT-developed 8.4-liter V-10, equipped with factory headers and a low-restriction exhaust system, that produces 640 horsepower (40 more than production model).

The suspension also is tuned and upgraded specifically for on-track usage, while the weight is lightened by a full 160 pounds (versus the standard production Viper) to take on even the most challenging road course. Additional aerodynamic upgrades improve downforce, while enhancing stability and significantly improving grip in high-speed cornering.

Similar to the Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, the Viper ACR-X contains factory-installed safety equipment such as a factory-designed roll cage, fuel cell and race seat. Additional racing components are added to meet the significant durability and reliability requirements for on-track competition.

In what will be the final year of production for the current generation Viper, the ACR-X is the third limited, special-edition model to be introduced by Dodge. ““We’re going to make 2010 the most exciting year for Viper yet with specially developed cars for the street and the track,” Gilles added. “The ACR-X is targeted at road-racing enthusiasts who want to successfully compete in our ultimate American sports car.”
