Damn. Not good. If you buy a Cobra you want an SVT motor.
Honestly after looking at your engine pics, how could there be rust on the coolant lines?? That engine looks like it was in katrina or some sort of flood.
The reason they rust is because of these wonderful pieces of plastic I guess used for a heat shield, moisture gets trapped underneath it an rust it out twice as fast. When I bought my Mark VIII motor to get the Teksid block they had holes rusted all the way through them. Sorry about the terrible pic best I could find
First off Its a LINCOLN MARK 8 Motor.
Nothing wrong with the Lincoln Mark motors....The block is aluminum 32v heads. Those lincolns were advertized at 300hp stock. Stock pistons and rods are blah. Each intake port on the head has a secondary port thats controlled by a unit on the back of the motor.
Want alot of power from that motor....Swap the 4 cams and port the exhaust side.
Only problem is to make those heads work right you need the lincoln computer and harness.
But on the bright side....a 32v 5.4 would be practically a drop in at this point seeing how they use the same valve covers and share alot of parts.
Heres a car that had that engine in it....I removed in and replaced it with a 5.4
Chris
..Now i would be pissed if i was supposed to get a terminator (5.4)...
not at all, you can run a 4v off a 2v computer with ease, ive done it!! it will start up and run fine you just need to tune it and move up the rev limiter to around 7k, its the same a a cobra engine just the ****ty intake and the crank and intake cams.. but it will still spin 7k with ease..
Am I the only one who caught this?
OP: That's a pretty ****ty deal you got there. I would consider talking to the seller and then a lawsuit. Find yourself a decent lawyer and go to town on that pos.
Both use the Teksid aluminum block.....and FWIW there have never been any conclusive tests done showing the TEKSID is actually better than the later WASP block. They both have advantages and disadvantages and both can be easily modified to handle in excess of 1500HP.
Most 01's Cobra did not receive a Teksid, the WAP block was designed for 01 but some 01's did slip through a few of the remaining Teksids. Also it isn't recommend to take any WAP block past 800 hp.
