5.0 water pump leak

my buddy has a 91 5.0 and has replaced the water pump gasket about 4 times now. it keeps leaking from were the backing plate mats to the pump can't figure it out help any ideas. car is supercharged if that matters

Is he using both gaskets (1 between the pump and plate, and 1 between the plate the timing cover), and the correct ones (check orientation of gasket)?

Does he have the correct backing plate to match the timing cover (make sure the round edge of the port matches, there are mulitple backing plates and I have received the wrong one in the past right out of the box)
