Hi, I just bought used rear axles for my 1967 Mustang. They are 28 spline, the shorter axle is tapered and the longer axle is not. Will this be a problem. I’m restoring the car but not as an original to factory spec. The rear housing that I had was bent so I purchased a rebuilt Third Member with a housing and axles. I hope you can help

Thanks

they will work if they are both 28 spline ,you dont see the smaller 28 axels very often
i have only came across a couple pairs of them they are not as strong as the larger 28 spline axels ,not sure why they were used in some cars . they will not take a lot of horse power.

Hi thanks for the reply, both are 28 spline. I was concerned about the strength. I had 3.55 gears put in the third member with a locker. Im wondering if i should return the tapered axel for a non tapered. what do you think?
