looking to buy an in dash dvd player

Dang, very nice price. You really can't go wrong with the Z series. Yes they are pricey but hell a stock navi costs $2k and nowhere as nice. For the background on my startup page I have a pic of my car, lol. You might wanna check out avic411.com. Its basically like here but for pioneer owners.

I just bought one for my car (last was stolen) and after doing all my research, i landed on the avic z2. Its nice because it was manufactured in 2007 so its not too old, fat 7" screen, and the nav system is supposed to be pretty nice. The other one i was looking at was the f900bt or the f90bt, but the problem is people are saying they are buggy and take minutes to load up from start. That and i dont really care for the interface. The z series also has a 30gb hdd in so you dont have to mess with map discs and such. Got it on ebay for less than 800 with the remaining 2 years of a best buy warranty. Just keep your eye open for the one you want, dont settle for the quickest one, especially if you are buying used.
Thats what I really wanted! I was looking at the Z1 cause the 1,2 and 3 are the same except their hard drive. On eBay there are guys selling the upgrade for $90. It has all the current maps, unlocks the deck for future upgrades, bypasses the security feature so it can play DVDs and edit the nav while the car is moving and also ups storage to 80gigs :nice:

the AVIC-D3 was a good unit but is now discontinued. the new pioneer line has more options and lower price points, but the cheaper ones dont have GPS.

Pioneer In-Dash Double DIN (2 DIN Receivers) | In-Dash Car Stereo Receivers and Head Units | Car Audio and Video at Sonic Electronix

the "direct replacement" for the AVIC-D3 is this unit

i have purchased many things at this web site and have had great luck with them
I have also Pıoneer x2800bs . It all starts with an excellent 6.2 inch WVGA backlit screen display. It made for a very clearly readable screen at all times. The unit also has a built-in 13 channel graphic equalizer which makes it easy to adjust the sound to your cars own acoustics. The hands free calling and audio streaming both work excellent on this model touch screen car stereo. It is also very simple to hook up a backup camera to this unit if you purchase one separately. The voice recognition controls work really well when used with the Bluetooth. It is moderately priced for all the features it has too
