I would be outside working on something in the shed....or on Dusty....but its 1 degree tonite. My finger tips a yellin', " HECK NO !! ".

Don’t even think of screwing with dusty’s pretty little engine Scott! Come on!

Now, a 393 in the blue van with that M112 you have would be very interesting.

Ahhhhhh...Just like the Flu,....The N/A bug is going around...

Function over form,.....hard for some to grasp. For others (myself included) the original design intent temporarily gets over ruled by the need for speed, only to end up coming back to Jesus when adding things all up.
And reliability and original design intent trump blazing tires....overwhelmingly.

You could build the 351 for dusty, and when the time comes-swap ther 331 into Poppa Smurf. Hair dryer and side pipes optional :)

I'd like to be able to drive this car anywhere. My last car drove all over the place with a NA 347 and E cam. That cars been from NY to AL. I really enjoyed being able to cruise the highways searching for Chevy victims. Lol

I'm sure the turbo can be reliable....as long as I don't push for more power....but the 331 is already rated at 425 fwhp. That doesn't leave a lot on the table. Without a Dart block I'm limited to about 6psi. Mind you....6psi should bring right around 500 fwhp in this combo. That sounds great...but....I like doing dumb stuff sometimes. Just tipping the throttle roasts the tires. On the street I think I'd have to be on pins and needles all the time. Just trying to pass someone, or merge into traffic, would bring bunion hole puckering experiences.

My experiences , thus far, have been on a 245 street tire. That being said...if I could get a wider meat performance tire it could make a world of difference. The thing I don't know is if a 275 will hold 500+ in a 3k pound car with boost. Its a lot different when the torque curve is smooth....what happens when I really see boost ?

Guess I'm kinda being a nini.... I've never hit a curb in my life....and Dusty definetly got loose real quick.

We'll see what happens....

The 351 based 393 could go in Dusty....but the HP to money ratio I could just keep the 331 and have marginally less HP.

The van would be a better candidate for the 393 ( I think ). Way less parts to buy... Huge HP and torque improvement. Now, will the e40d trans hold up to it....or would a c6 be better ?....decisions decisions.

Drove the 1.5 hrs to the nearest Harbor Freight. Grabbed an engine support brace and an oil separator.... Oh....and fog lights for Papa Smurf.

I had an engine support that I lent to a guy 12yrs ago....who knows where it or the guy are now. The Taurus needs a new rack and engine mounts replaced... Yipppeeee !!!

There's so much stuff I want in that store. Even saw a mini lathe.... Jeeesh...the stuff I could build with that thing.

I love that store and my wife has to keep me away from there. So many things I want from there too

My little oil separator is coming together.
I went to Lowes and bought a bunch of dang brass fittings ( to the tune of 18 bucks )...only to find out I had AN fittings that I got in a CL purchase....

Here's the inside filter....I'll be adding some steel abrasive later.

IMG_20180117_184007523.jpg

The little valve on the bottom was spring loaded and wouldn't work. Some quick work with a grinder to take the bottom off...and M8 x 20 tap and its good to go.

IMG_20180117_183907171.jpg

Here the almost finished product. I still need to make an aluminum bracket and figure out whether I'm going to use steel braided or black nylon braided hose.

IMG_20180117_183853177.jpg

I don't have a lot of time with work and kids practices...but.... I do have time to go buy a lift this weekend.

All the details haven't been filled in. Right now, I'd put that thing up in my driveway. It'll be nice for when this 2 year long house search is over.

I think I'm going with MM k member and coil overs. Seems like the way to go....I need a control arm and a k member any way

The turbo is staying. I've come too far to change it up now. I'm trying to find a way to do a hard tail conversion and maybe a mini tub.

I want to see if I can move the rear tubes of the IRS to under the rear frame rails. If I can get the wheel tub flush with the frame rail I should be able to get a 315....or maybe a 335 back there with no problem.

Its time to research again

This is the process with my latest mini project.... I made a bracket for my PCV oil separator. I used a hanger and a piece of aluminum I had laying around. I should have polished it before putting the wire through it...but....it'll work.

....all done on the stove in the kitchen...with the wife watching. She's got her eyes on that red GT so I'm getting away with murder right now.

So I gotta ask then...You're gonna rely on a air/water separator for a high pressure/low volume compressed air compressor setup to act as a vent for your engine? Can you blow through this thing w/o feeling any restriction?
That looks to be what?...... A -8 inlet? Doesn't the internal restriction drop that down to 3/8"?

I've got a big breather tank already. It's plumbed off the valve cover with 5/8 hoses... 10 AN and vented to atmosphere.

The catch can is 6AN and the same size as the hose running off the top of the PCV valve...3/8.

I'll be using a vibrant check valve ( not ordered yet ).

OK then, you are gonna run out of the catch can, into that -6 line water/oil trap, through the check valve, and then back to the valve cover?

Its going to run from the pcv valve in the back of the lower intake in to the catch can, through the check valve and into the intake. Its been shown to help.

Its a lot better than running a booster check valve in the factory hose.

It was a nice day around here. Went to one of my sons basketball games, cleaned the gutters, and did this....

I'm happy with how it all turned out....minus the fact that my heat pump fan stopped working in the house today. Took a fine time to quit with these kinda warm couple days. HVAC guy will be out tomorrow.... I'm now drinking scotch.

Just to note.. .

The summit fittings were a breeze to deal with with the stainless braided lines. I've never put lines together so easy in my life. The one Russell fitting, by the intake end, was tough as hell.

I've learned to lubricate the threads on the part that threads inside the hose. A Dremel with a cut off wheel does wonders on the braided hose. A tight wrap of electrical tape on the fitting and a pair of decent adjustable wrenches work wonders without marring the fittings....unless its a dang tight AF fitting...I got the corner a little bit.

I still refuse to buy AN fitting wrenches. Too much moolah !!!

I may one day....but right now I'm doing' just fine :nice:

Is that a new dog Scott?

No...that's a 5yr old dog by the name of Gypsie...my wife's dog. Here's my 5yr old dog Roxy. They're sisters from the same litter.

20180127_193013.jpg

This is how my life goes....wife talks me into a new phone....because mine is 5yrs old ( like the dogs ) and works perfectly. I go to Verizon and look at a S8 plus because it's the same one my wife bought two days ago.

Now, she told me her FB pictures were posting sideways....I hardly ever post pics on FB so I could care less. I stand there in front of the sales lady and proceed to upload a picture here from my wife's phone. At that time I stated, " if it posts sideways I don't want a stinkin' new phone ". Hit the upload button and the picture shows up straight. Just now I posted a pic from my brand new phone and the dang piece of ish is sideways.

They can take this new phone and shove it up they're @ectums. ....wait there's a 35 buck restocking fee. Dang it !!!!!!!!:fuss::fuss::fuss::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::mad::mad::mad:

Edit; fixed

Papa Smurf did his job again. He brought her down to get transplanted.

4.6 block getting PI heads and swapped in, t56, McLeod clutch, Procharger, and odds and ends. This will be a fun build. I'll have to start a new thread in the sn95 forum.

Edit; and I have a work around for pics. I've got to take them sideways and then they show up rig by side up....but they always show right side up in the gallery. BS....
