Hi Steve. I am a newbie to the tuner scene. I just purchased and installed a mspnp2 for my supercharged 89 Mustang. Having trouble with my tune. Big fan of your work and wondering if you could give me a hand, please? This is several minutes of me starting the car, at idle, and pressing the accelerator. Thanks

I will need a copy of the .msq (tune) to go along with the .msl (datalog)

Here is a revised tune, before you load this and try it out make sure you have your timing set. by looking at your msq it looks like your balancer should read 12* fixed on the tune you sent me. I have adjusted the timing curve and most of the fuel tables, once we verify that the car runs on the tune I sent get a datalog so we can properly tune the idle.

BTW your WB never read below 12.7 on my end.... What are you using for a wideband??

It is not wired directly to the mspnp2.
I was not clear if I was supposed to wire it the mspnp2.

Ok I should have checked the input voltage then. You did have something on the o2 input for voltage but I assume it was nothing.

Btw yes you need to wire the wideband into the MS otherwise I can't help much... I need to be able to see how the engine is doing that is my main tuning weapon.

FYI @twohawks777@cox , wire the blue wideband wire to pin 21 on the optional input (26 pin) and run the black wideband wire to a sensor ground like Pin 22. These Autometers aren't set up in TS so you create a linear calibration in the "Calibrate AFR" dialog where 0v = Min AFR and 4v = max AFR. You can set the min and max on the wideband itself to something like 10 & 18 for a standard resolution (0.5 volts per AFR point), in which case 0v=10 and 4v=18. This is how I have both of mine set.

When you do this, you should see the exact same numbers on your Tunerstudio Dashboard gauge that you do on the Autometer gauge. Also I think it's safe to unplug the factory narrowband sensors if they're installed.

Were gonna get along great. It's nice to have some backup for tech stuff. Speaking of have you ever setup a nonstandard sensor (like fuel pressure) to a ms2?

I can't say I'm at your level, but I'm pretty comfortable and have played with probably a dozen MS cars now (mostly boosted sbf's). I haven't personally wired up a nonstandard sensor yet. I bought the components to do a fuel pressure sensor and will also install a coolant pressure sensor to kill power if I start to lift a head. lol I wanted to do Flex Fuel but I hear the MS2 systems don't work as well as MS3 so I figured I'd wait til I installed an MS3 box.

I think in order to install the 0-5v sensors, you can use the spare connector pins and build the "protective" circuits, as outlined in the MS2V357 manual section 3.4.9.1. This was my plan of action at least.

This was my thought as well, I'm pretty good at the hardware and tuning but I lack the tech knowledge when it comes to altering the .ini files to make the input function as something other than a raw voltage.
In ms3 it's easy hook it up and select what you want that input to do... ms2 is old-school

I'm in the same boat man. Building the circuits and tuning the car is no issue but I haven't played with any coding and .ini manipulation on these controllers. Arduinos, matlab, labview, sure, but not this stuff.

I was thinking it'd be cool to have a MAC boost control solenoid drop boost if the coolant pressure sensor saw a 5%+ rise in coolant pressure but those aren't default options so it'd require some custom settings to be created. I'm sure some guys in the megasquirt facebook groups could teach us how that part is done. That is if I don't end up switching to MS3X or Pro beforehand. :cool:

I can't open these files at work but can you send a picture of the wiring? Are you sure you're using the right pins on the "options" connector? I had one guy counting the pins backward so his wideband was pinned in the wrong location. Also make sure this is the newer version with the 26 pin rather than the old 15 pin version.

Maybe I will have to look into it further a member here is trying to use a raspberry cpu to talk with the ms2 over can that will display sensor information onto a 7"lcd display that runs tuner studio for his instrument cluster.

I'll be doing the same Raspberry Pi display for my friends racecar with MS3Pro. I think rather than using TS and having dialog boxes pop up everytime the tune changes (tune modified on my laptop), we're going to run ShadowDash so that it is purely a display.

I believe the thought is to keep a wireless mouse in the glove box and not need to carry around a laptop. I may be doing a rewire in my diypnp case using a ms3 board and 3x expansion card wired to my BOB.
 
I think a lot of people end up doing that, and just tune primarily from the dash with a separate mouse and keyboard. Maybe I'm old school but I prefer to have a tuning laptop. lol I scored a 2007-2010 GT500 MAF sensor to monkey around with on my roots blown car in a draw through configuration. Hopefully I have it next week and can play with it in a few weeks.

Yes, this my gameplan of running Tunerstudio on a raspberry pi giving me full tuning capabilities, dashboard, and datalogging. I have been wanting to get rid of all these extra B-pillar gauges since the stock ones are not the best in the world, along with upgrading to a full electronic 4R70W transmission with another microsquirt connecting it via CAN Bus.

If you guys have some input on my question in my thread for adding oil pressure and fuel level to Tunerstudio that would be great appreciated.


I will also be able to use this (future date) as a media center via bluetooth eliminating the CD player in the car too.
