So I played around with it in the car a bit to actually do a bit of a review. I didn't take care for a drive due to it being winter and still salt/water out on the roads.
Overall appearance. Perfect. They got the texture really spot on so that looking around the interior, you really couldn't tell it was not a factory plastic panel. It really does look like an oem part barring your color matching skills.
Sturdiness? I've seen this bashed online s bit but to be honest it's no worse than the oem panel. Actually it's probably a bit more sturdy since the little clips along the edge are actually intact on this one. Screwed down in place...it's a pretty solid console with a few of the typical fox console squeaks.
The cupholder itself accoodates the variety of cups I've tried. The one particular cup of coffee I ALWAYS get fits perfect. Skinny cups may slide around a bit. It would be nice if the bottom was rubber to help stop that.
I also wish the cup holder was part of the console and not an insert. While it's snug in the console, I wish it was a rubber insert instead.
Cell phone holder? Probably won't use it. I usually run WAZE for speed traps, so I use a holder on the dash. Also since it's painted I'd be too paranoid about stuff sliding around and wearing on the paint.
Cons? No power port. I'm hesitant to say that's a con because it's so easy to add one anywhere. I'll prob add one under the console and just have my phone charger cord poke out. I don't drive the car long distances, so never really needed to charge it.
Some have said that the e brake seal should have already been installed, but I'm glad it wasn't since I installed the
www.redlinegoods.com leather boot as you can see in the pics. (with matching shifter boot) So I'm glad it was not installed. It's not a big deal anyway. Melt the pins over with soldering iron and you are done.
Things I'd change? Mold them in correct color plastics instead. I know 30 years may lead to some fade, but perhaps it would match some cars.
I'd also maybe move the cup holders rearward 1" and make the holder molded as part of the console and add a rubber insert.
Be interesting to see how it would "wear" in a daily driver type car. Throw 20k miles on it and then review. Unfortunately that isn't my car. So this console will probably get the easy life of 100 miles a year.
