Fox Rock Auto price on steering rack correct??

I put a quick ratio rack in my old mustang and would never go back. It's in the new project also.

The feel is things better. Changing lanes is effortless. I can't remember the ratio for sure... but I think it's 2.5 to 1.

2.5 is not the ratio on these sport racks. 2.5 is the number of steering wheel turns from lock to lock. I thinks the ratio is more like 15:1.

I've got two sport racks (2.5 turn lock to lock), one on the LX and one on the convertible. Got them both at Autozone for roughly $70 each. I have had no trouble with either one of them.

I installed an AC Delco rack from RockAuto about 4 years ago, and I haven't had any issues with it yet. The steering feel is pretty good for a reman rack, much like the original rack. I have had several remans before the Delco, including a cardone, on the car, and they all had 2 things in common - leaks and super light steering feel.

If this one dies, I am going to a SN95 rack.

Speaking of while my car was on the rack it seems like mine is leaking from this area.

Ok so now I’m in the predicament of a leaky rack and don’t know what to do. So what did you end up doing @BlakeusMaximus not sure if I should go cheap and just toss a reman in or do what @Mustang5L5 said about doing the sn95 rack. Guess I’m lost on the rack since he stated to stay away from 94-98 and use either 99-04 cobra or gt? These all work ok on our cars as long as you get the MM steering shaft assembly? I have sn95 spindles and ball joints and longtubes now, will there be any difficulty? Sorry just trying to figure this out and make a decision.

I worked at Cardone Industries for 16 years, if you buy a reman rack on Rock its highly likely a Cardone unit.

It's reman back to OE specs, nothing special of course.

There will be a core charge but usually for $20-$30 its probably worth eating the fee then sending it back.

Any sN95 rack is an upgrade to the fox rack. But after dropping $200-300 for the MK adapter, you might as well grab the "best" rack you can.

Realistically it's 99-04 Cobra, with 02-04GT up next.

Haven’t done it yet Devil. My mustang hasn’t been too high on my priority list lately. I’ll probably take Mikes advice. Might as well upgrade it, but i still haven’t ruled out going with a rock auto reman rack yet. I really don’t drive my car much. If I can get the same type of feel and performance as the rack it currently has in it, I might be ok with a reman. Just don’t want to spend a ton of money.

A lot of the feel is simply eliminating the rag joint on the stock steering shaft. Translates to instant movement to the rack and more road feedback. So really a good chunk of the upgrade is that. If your rag joint is trash, I'd at least change it out

”Looks” ok. But it is from 88, 30 years old. I’ll definitely change it when I do the rack, or upgrade it.
