Hello Everyone im new to the stangnet family and i have a question about what cam to use for my application. I have a 95 bmw e36 with a 331 stroker in it, before i ask my questions i want to list all the parts i have used on it. i know someone these parts have no relations to my question but i just want t o put it out there what i used in case anyone is wondering.
Stock block Scat 1-94055BE Rotating assembly
Current CAM is Comp Cam xe282HR-12
Edelbrock 8840 Victor water pump
Edelbrock 7123 Performer RPM Intake manifold upper and lower
AFR 1422 185CC Heads 58CC Chambers
BBK Shorty headers
Comp Cam 19043-16 gold Rollers
75MM BBK Throttle Body (Whistles so bad)
32 IBS Injectors
MSD 8456 Distributor
Powering it all up is a microsquirt (Shout out @a91what for all the tuning he has done)
Taking the abuse is a t5 tranny

I have built this car for street fun and to be able to daily drive it but drifting it is my main goal. I live in Central California 209 near silicon valley. CHP and City cops are really serious around here with modded cars so i dont want to lose my car and get it towed. My Main Issue is that the cam i have in right now is not smooth at all basically shakes the whole car so what im looking for is a smooth idle cam that can still have my power. When i picked out this cam i wasn't thinking too much of it nor did i do my research on it all i seen was that it makes power so i just went with it. So please give me suggestions on which cam i can run that is smooth on the idle but i will still make good power up my setup. AND also if anyone can recommend any good throttle body that doesn't whistle my current BBK one is horrible, hows the SR performance ones from american muscle? I can post pictures if anyone is interested in seeing the setup. Thank you guys hopefully i made everything clear and didn't write too much thanks

My car runs the same cam in a 331 turbo car. Only pulls 8-9in.hg at idle. At 1k its about 12in.hg. No vacuum leaks.

Vacuum is too low for my cobra booster to keep up. Needs a vacuum pump.

My advise would be an Ed Curtis FTI custom camshaft. He can grind one exactly the way you want for your set up. FlowTech Induction.

Custom always best. However, if that is out of the question, I ran and Anderson N41 for a while and really liked it. It will pull good to around 6000-6200, but the heads will definitely support more rpm. Not real up on the drift scene, but I assume sustained high rpms for long periods of time (more than 12 seconds). If so, the lower the rpms the better chance your stock block has of living.

i see the rmp range is from 2600-6200 from a quick search pretty much same as my current cam. Hows the tone on idle? Yes i want to keep it low dont want to mess up my block really soon.. Thank you

Here's some pictures not full cleaned up yet. in the engine picture you can see im runing my exhaust from the front of the engine so i have the shortys running backwards and both connect into one.

N71 has a pretty aggressive chop to it. Hop on youtube and you can see a few vids with that camshaft

What are you looking for most? Tame idle? Unfortunately a lot of cams will have that tell-tale chop at idle. You might want to take a look at this cam

Thank you for recommendation i will look into this.

That passenger side pipe feeding into the collector is less then ideal. You never want to feed a pipe like that at 90° on a natural aspirated engine. Turbo is alittle different beast where you can get away with less then ideal conditions as you are not relying on exhaust pulse waves to evacuate the cylinder.
