Aem fail safe install

Ok, tell me about wideband o2 sensors with relation to the MS3. From looking at wiring schematic, it appears I only need one O2 sensor, and for datalogging it should be a wideband.

Install one wideband, cap the other bung (or leave the stock o2 sensor in) and then connect the signal wire from the wideband to the MS and that's it?

Did you ever figure out how to wire it up? I have a supercharged 94 Cobra that came with the megasquirt pnp2 already in it and I just installed an AEM Failsafe Wideband gauge and I’m trying to figure out how to connect it to the megasquirt

This would be a better question to ask in the digital tuning forum, let's get you moved over there and I can answer any questions you have in regards to tuning and wiring.

Well first I need to know exactly what you want to do, I already moved your post for you.
I assume you just need to wire the wb into the ms2pnp yes?

I had started my own thread but wasn’t getting any replies so I started searching for other threads with a similar problem. But yes I need help figuring out how and the correct wires to connect my wideband to my mspnp2

Ok you will need to disconnect the factory O2 sensors if they are still installed. The input for the O2 is in parallel with the factory narrowband units.

Take WHITE to pin 21 and BROWN to pin 22

thats a very expensive setup to just use it as a WB. I would have told you to purchase a spartan2 from 14point7.com since the MS2 already does everything else that the unit you purchased does...
BTW the AEM stuff has a tendency to burn up the sensors, so keep one on hand.

I’m eventually going to set it up for the Failsafe strategy once I get it working with the megasquirt, main reason I bought it is to help shut the car down if it gets out of safe parameters. I wasn’t fully aware of what the megasquirt offered as it was already installed in the car prior to getting it. But there are currently no O2’s hooked up it was like that when I got the car, other than my wideband being in there now. But after taking the white and brown to their pins do I need to move a jumper to read a certain bank?

Nope, you get one wb input on the ms2pnp. Not sure for the failsafe, I assume it only has one sensor? If so then if you want to read each bank you would have to move it. If it has 2 sensors then it likely outputs a signal that is an average of both banks.

You will need to go into the tools menu in tunerstudio and calibrate the input.

Yeah I mean it’s just the one sensor I have in the passenger inner side of the collector and nothing else. Another question, how do you know the number location of the pins?

You will need to purchase the plug with pins from diyautotune to install.

I do have this in the car coming from the Megasquirt, which looks to be the serial cable. I did some looking around on Diyautotune and found the 26 pin connector with the wires for $21, wish I could just buy the wires and use the plug that’s already in there but doesn’t look like you can just buy the wires by themselves from them

That is the Nine Pin Serial Cable used to connect to your laptop, pretty much all newer laptops do not come with these serial ports anymore so you will need to purchase a USB to Serial Adapter. You can pick one up from the DIY Autotune: https://www.diyautotune.com/product/usb-to-serial-adapter-works-with-tunerstudio/, this one comes in two parts, the DB9 to USB adapter and USB Cable or you can also pick up USB to Serial(DB9) cable from any electronics store, Amazon, etc. These have USB on one end of the cable and DB9 on the other end.
