Fox Looking at going back to a stock air box?

Back in the day, when most of us had stock-ish cars the advertised hp gain with the "cold air induction" had more to do with the fact that most everyone had the air silencer still, and removing that alone was probably the hp gain. I have never been a fan of the cai.

Some DEI heat shielding over the metal would be a better insulator than the plastic and rubber with header and engine bay heat.
Bed liner or some dynamat might look better, but DEI makes quality products.

That sounds like something I would do.Thanks

Around 30 years ago when my 89 had about 35k miles and was still under warrranty, I drove through a heavy rainstorm and ended up twisting 4 of my rods. As soon asI got the car back, off came the intake silencer. I swear it acted as a funnel.

Pretty much anything that was equipped with an SEFI 5.0 (HO or not) built on a Fox platform will have the correct air box. Mark VII, Thunderbird, Cougar, etc.

Air silencers are another story. The one installed on Mustangs is Mustang-specific due to differences in the amount of space available under the fenders of other models.

Air tubes are also another story. The Mustang air tube is also Mustang-specific. Other tubes will fit, but certain models (e.g.: Mark VII) have a weird air tube with a narrow section just after the air box.
