I laughed when I saw this but I also laughed when they made a stock air bag wheel with a stupid red 12 o’clock mark on it and ppl seemed to think it was amazing. You could spend like 20 bucks on led’s and brighten you orig up and it would pop just as good beside having the small “digital” displays. Now idk what else this thing does to be honest bc I haven’t read anything about it. Maybe it’s more accurate idk, but to me to go from stock setup to a stock set up for 900 bucks is pointless. I get some ppl like to preserve to original appearance but I like trying to make the car just a little different which is why I love my gauge set up. It just pops and ppl always do a double take at the gauge set up. To each their own for sure, but 9 bills when you could spend a little more and get custom set up is strange. The Dakota dash to me just also seems plain and basically an originals dash yet I believe the Dakota does some pretty cool things I believe. As shown by @Mustang5L5 the ones that guy sinisbuilt as been messing with are actually pretty cool and different. If you don’t follow or check his stuff out that guy is crafty. He is where I got my custom wheel caps and oval badges from. There is just something about this look imo that always brings a smile to my face vs the mundane stock cluster. As for the custom bezel that @91GTstroked had there is a guy making something like this which I’ve contemplated, his ig is sourlightning

The Dakota stuff I think is really intended for swaps (coyote, holley efi, megasquirt, stupid chevy stuff, etc). It is way more accurate than the sticker (at least the tech will be) and for us pre-late 89 guys that only have an 85mph speedo it may be a better option than finding a late 89 cluster or adapting a 90-93

I put one of the regular DD clusters in my 89 last winter, spent about 7-8 hours doing wiring but I didn't want it to be a hack job. I can say personally it was worth every penny and is quite a dramatic upgrade even for a stock engine, it is not just for swaps. This stock-look cluster defeats the purpose a little bit though because their regular cluster has full-sweep gauges with actual numbering, I would rather have useful information than stock look. And yes, these are a whole different animal from the stock gauges, all the sensors get replaced with their solid-state ones, the speedo cable is eliminated and uses the electronic pulse signal from the VSS, they are 100% digital stepper motor gauges, not to mention they have several plug-and-play addon interface boxes if you want to add integrated controls or features. Expensive yes, but 100% made in the USA right down to the circuit boards. I would know, I live about 2 miles from their factory and have been there.....

Looks like lmr is releasing a lot of improved stock-look stuff this year, just saw these on their site

I saw those too. They’ve released a bunch of new, repop parts in the last month.

The seats prob deserve their own thread. I have some comments :)

The more I look at these, the more I like. I’d just need to do an adapter harness as I don’t want to cut wires.

not doing guages right now thiugh. Too much other stuff to buy

Call me crazy, but I may put off cylinder heads to get these. But I’m in same boat as you on not chopping up the harness, worst case I chop up the Classic Dash harness.

Curious to see what you come up with, but I may grab some male plugs from the JY and see if anyone with a 3D printer is up for a challenge.

I’ve been keeping an eye of for some oe harness plugs into the cluster for just that reason.

first person to design an adapter harness might have something good on their hands.

The alternative is to cut the harness back some . Put weather pack or deutchse connectors on it so your stock pigtails can be re connected or the pig tail for the DD cluster.

I dig the cluster. Enough to consider getting one down the road. I'm still up in the air about the HVAC relocation you posted @Mustang5L5 . Can't grasp the idea of cutting my crystal blue center console. Crystal Blue interior parts are hard to come by!

I'd like it if it lit up green like the originals. I like the green back lit dash...makes my red interior feel all Christmasy this time of year.
