Progress Thread My centrifugal ppl, how’s this deal?

I have seen two different carpets offered on LmR one that just says carpet like what I posted in the pic, then another that’s slightly more expensive which has some sort of boom mat built in I guess a little more like stock. Is all this dyna Mat or boom Mat whatever it’s called worth it or needed? Now that I know I have to trim and it’s not just an easy plug and play type deal I already got in my head lol!! I get all weirded out bc I want it done right and to look original. Maybe I’ll just my carpet another real good deep cleaning and vac and see how it goes. It really isn’t that bad, I just figured it’s open in the car right now so maybe I could do it.
Then it’s make sure it is all settled in and centered, measure twice and cut once. I was too naive to know it was tricky the first time I touched up an interior, and it was no big deal. Now YouTube and the car shows/Gearz have video help.

Finally a little over a month later they have arrived from Bangkok. 200 bucks shipped, I’d say they are in really good condition IMO. Now I know these look different than the usual netted headrests aka fishnet hehe I know that some ppl don’t like that term. I’ve googled and searched a few different places about different Recaro headrests. I’ve found plenty of pics of both netted headrests on the LX/LS Recaro seats. Granted both styles are hard to find, and all I’ve found is that this stubbier version is some what rare, and seems to be talked about in regards to the SA10 saleens. Either way I like them, gonna have both sets of headrests covered. Almost time to pack these babies up, just waiting on my fabric to come in from Relicate. My only other issue is getting the lower seat webbing, which capital seating is showing possible restock in June, no luck on finding any on FB Recaro groups as of yet. Not sure if the guy I’m sending the seats to has something to fix this or if I need to find it prior to sending them out. Also picked up a sweet deal on some more skeletons as ppl are unloading Halloween decor and I’m the annual garage haunted house guy and always gathering more goods to make it better each year!

So I had a little extra sheet metal and cut out this piece to cover the wiper motor hole. I thought about putting a little insulation foam cushion deal on the back before riveting it in. Then I said screw it and ordered the Scott rod fire wall cover. I’ll probably just have it powder coated like I did my radiator to bumper gap cover for the time being, until I can have the engine bay all freshened up. Should I still cover the wiper hole with the small cut out and then put this over the top or just run the Scott rod panel? The longer the car sits on stands and I wait for other parts, the more ideas and things I want to buy! Now I want to order the inner fender liners.

I would take the small cover off, and just run the full firewall cover. Lookin good man!
I fully understand wanting more and more stuff as the car sits there. Mines been on stands for about 8 months now! Takes a lot of will power to just stay focused on this part of the project!

Need a little help here with deciding on the inner skirts. So I like the idea of both aluminum and the weld in steel panels. I have no clue how to weld btw!! Eventually yes I want to pull this motor and have the engine bay redone proper. For the time being I’m itching to get these panels and have my guy powder coat them then just rivet them in for now. I can surely do that with the aluminum panels. How hard would that be to do with the 22g steel panels? I figured I could just drill out the holes, pop rivets in and be fine until I can do the engine bay. Then later I could have whomever does the paint etc for me weld them up correctly, smooth it out and it would look great. I don’t believe I could do that with aluminum ones could I? As the aluminum ones in the long run would still need to be riveted correct? Or am I wrong? The more photos I look at it seems all the smooth repainted engine bays are running the steel weld in style. What’s you all’s opinion?

Maybe it's just me, but i certainly think deleting the wiper motor is silly, i mean they still stick through through the cowl right? It's up there with deleting the AC, just makes it look like something is missing.
As for the fender liners, i think if you want to close up all the holes in the factory that's cool, but most of those inserts tend to look fake, the aluminum is just too smooth and thin and they tend to look cheap and flexible.
I think they are fine and all for a race car, but that's about it.

i purposely put the aluminum panels in the Monster to add contrast. The riveted panels look good as long as you make sure to properly space out the rivets.

Riveting the steel panels makes zero sense..And waiting on somebody to weld’ and smooth them in later is postponing a stupid amount of labor at a later date.
It doesn’t look race car, IMO, it adds detail to an otherwise bland front apron. MOF, Depending on how much sht you have up front it may, or may not make a rats red bunion hole one way or the other. But as far as my particular situation goes, I’ll take the riveted aprons over the 40 hours spent welding, grinding, smoothing, priming, and painting steel panels that get just as covered up as the aluminum ones do.

Ha yeah I know it’s not everyone’s taste. That’s why I got my little powder coated NUBBINS!! I like the smooth bay and fire wall. I am more on the less looks best. Also, I’m very weather watchy so if I had wipers or not, if it’s going to supposedly rain I don’t drive the car. Not to say I can’t get stuck at some point. More than likely I’m going to move the motor into the fender well, extend a small rod off the wiper motor and attach it to the old arms. Then they would be functional, and I could put on my wiper arms for inspection purposes.

Those do look good, and you are correct on the riveting spacing. I was about to rivet in the firewall panel, so I looked around at some pics to see how others did it, and some ppl did like you and made it look clean and spaced out, where others just went for it and looks more of a mess.

Have you seen the House of Dula vid on Utoob? He just did a pretty good “how to” on putting the motor in the fender well.

Yea I follow the guy 90boostcoupe as well on IG, he does a lot of work on the Dallas area guys foxbody’s. He was the one that had been doing this for their rides for awhile, then HOD who knows / hangs with them also did it but did a write up on YouTube. HoD surely went back and plugged him or his shop #foxwerks in the vid as the guy he got the idea from. It’s a cool idea, and a way to keep the wipers functional.

I think sometimes people go out of their way to make something unassuming look better and in the process they draw your eye to it. Take that chrome across the firewall, i never give someone's firewall any thought, but then you go and stick chrome on it and now it's all i see, made worse by the piece meal effect of the hood hinges and covers.
It's not different to me than putting a chrome cover on your gas tank.
Sometimes less is more.

As for the fender liners, i don't think mike's is an apples to apples comparison.
His engine bay is 100% custom and makes use of a bunch of different colors and finishes.
Yours is pretty much just red and black and other than missing the AC it looks for the most part factory.

I just get the feeling your are solving issues that aren't actually problems.
To me, other than the missing AC, your engine bay looks good as is.

I agree,....your engine bay looks good as it already is.

I said something to this effect a couple of years back. It’s all in the details, or lack thereof. The guys that obsess over putting a nice pretty painted engine in a cruddy, filthy bay,...or those that put stuff together all nice and painted, but leave rusty assed, bolts, or too long studs sticking out of the water pump. or Bent up brake lines that run across the top of the firewall, Greasy, ragged wiring, or a half smoothed engine bay with grinding marks and excess weld still hanging there, all ruin the desired effect....cause no amount of anal engine detail deters the eye from what isn’t right about the rest of it.

What do they say about putting lipstick on a pig?

Once there‘s too much of any one thing, it’s too much. Contrast is a good thing....but the side dish needs just as much attention as the main course.

Alrighty my peeps I’ve been on a long stand still just been busy traveling and what not and surely 3 months give or take have passed and the car has just been up on stands. Let me get some opinions here on my seat reupholster journey. I am going with an Audi stracato fabric for the middle section. It matches up to the scarlet red material and will just have a cool look. Originally in my head I was going to do exactly like this one LX seat I posted just mine would be the LS, same black all around the outer then the stracato fabric in the center sections. They used a red houndstooth on this seat I posted. I love the look, but now I started thinking I also really like this grey seat posted. So I would still run the black vinyl or leather on the back and sides but run more fabric all over the face of the seat. I guess this would be similar to how our originals seats were with the vinyl on the sides and back and the tweed on the faces of the seat etc.
