Drivetrain Help with new GEARS

Just a side note. If this does not fix the issue take it back to the shop. DO NOT tell them you did anything to try and fix it. Do not tell them you added friction modifier or anything like that. That will be their "out" saying you must have messed it up by adding modifier etc.

Sorry, I missed that too,
I talked to the shop about everything. The owner said that I have a warranty for a year so there's no issue bringing it in. I told him I would just bring it by and have them double check everything. And he said if it just needs a bottle or two of friction modifier he'd be glad to put it in. I think he's a Ford guy so he liked the car. Haha. I'm just glad the shop is being so good about it. Thanks for all the advice guys. Now I at least know what to look for in the future if this ever starts happening again.

Sorry I'm late to the party. Something else shops don't do is soak the clutches in gear oil before putting them together. Friction modifier is a must do. If its clunking around turns something isn't right. If the fluid looks like glitter something is very wrong. The way I take a fluid sample is with a clear hose like a fish tank air tube hose. Siphon some fluid out of the rear into a small container. If you shine a flash light in it and it looks like a bowling ball there's something fd up.

Not that you need any of this done. Sounds like they stand behind their work and are willing to take a look at it.

Okay, so after letting the clutch packs wear in and soak for a few days there no more clutch noise. But after that I started noticing something else. If I slowly accelerate in first, like if I'm going through a crowded parking lot and I have to push the clutch in fast I hear an audible clunk. Its are to tell if it's coming from the rear or if it's possibly rear control arms but it wasn't making that noise before. Any ideas? It shifts super smooth through all the gears. I can also slightly hear it in second again if I slam the clutch in fast. The clutch is brand new and only has 3,000 miles on it and the transmission was rebuilt at the same time. Never heard anything until the new gears. ???

not sure I understand, you have a clunk that is coming from the passenger side only, check the spines on the axle on that side.
So after a bunch of jacking up either side. It's clunky in both sides. It seems to be louder on the passenger side. After putting it in gear I hear the clunk plus the tranny trying to stop it. There's a tad bit of play on both sides but they both lock up after about an inch of play. When you throw it in gear the driveshaft is banging on the trans because it won't let it move anymore but I'm not sure if that's what I'm hearing while I'm driving???

You're likely hearing the backlash on the gears, did you talk to the installer?
Yeah, I spoke to him before it was finished, after it was finished and again two days ago. Unfortunately he just learned how to work on rear ends 3 months ago. Soooo... I don't quite trust his input. He said he set it at 7 thousandths. But who knows if the pinion depth was correct and what have you.
