So I'm trying to track down why I hear a thud/knock sound when I push in my clutch. It only happens if I accelerate in first and then have to push the clutch in really fast like when you're trying to drive through a grocery store or something. Also, if I quick shift from first to second and I'm really giving it some gas. The clutch, flywheel, all bearings, fork and cable are all newly installed. The WC T5 was rebuilt only 5,000 miles ago, all the suspension has been redone, upper and lowers in the rear are UPR with poly bushings. The transmission crossmember has been fitted with new poly bushings and the motor mounts have been replaced also with stiffer poly bushings. I noticed the noise more after I had my differential rebuilt. I had them put in 3.55s I've since brought the car back to them and they couldn't figure out what was doing it. Any ideas I would greatly appreciate. Thanks!!

My thought before reading the new parts list was a clutch cable issue. Does the pedal ever feel like it’s sticking or dragging?
I ask because the one time I almost got stranded with a broken cable it was making a loud noise like this before it made a last big noise.
The clutch fork or bearing could also be binding.

The clutch is super smooth. Same with the transmission. I could definitely check that out though.

I'll double check the motor mounts tonight. I already know the trans mount and crossmember are in there really good. I just did it last night lol.
Okay, so after bringing the car back to my differential guy. We figured out the noise is coming from the transmission. It is banging around when you shift quickly or push in the clutch fast. It's coming internally from the trans. He said it's called transmission slap. How much of this would you consider to be normal? If I need to pull it again and have my trans guy look at it I will but of course I'd like to avoid that. Lol also, it's a rebuilt T5

Any transmission slap isn't expectable in any of my cars so if it were me I would pull it out of the car and look for the problem piece(s)

Transmission slap? Really?
Any T-5 with that much end play or side play is just wrong. If that’s what is causing it, do you want to fix it before or after it blows chunks?
A dope slap was my first though when I read transmission slap.

Yeah, I'm having the guy that rebuilt it look at it tonight. If I have to pull it, I will and he can crack it up and find out what the heck is wrong. It was literally rebuilt less than 3,000 miles ago and I have almost no hard driving on it because I had to first break in the new clutch and flywheel, then I got 3.55s put in and those needed a 500 miles break in too. Sooo after all the drivetrain work I have still not been able to enjoy it really. So frustrating!! Thanks for all your information!
