I'm trying to disassemble a 7.5" rearend I have in the garage and I have a couple questions.

1st. I trying to look and I can't find the c-clip for my life... maybe because I was doing it last night and didn't have enough light. But I can swear there wasn't one.

2nd. The 2 main girdles (I guess) that hold the whole assembly in the rear. The bolts are not coming of. They are definatley on there... am I missing something? Any tricks or tips?

those bolts should be torqued down, so use an impact wrench to get them off. btw, are you rebuilding this rearend? bcuz theres alot of real precise clearances and stuff that you need special tools to get correct or else the rear will fail real quick.

dude im just warning you, rearends are a real precise assembly, if u just pull everything out and then just slap it back in and dont know about setting the wear patten and backlash and all that other stuff, its gonna blow like real quick

Thanks for the warning. I'm probably not going to end up using it. I dunno... this is basically to learn more about them.

I got the 4 bolts off BTW.
I first went to Sears and got the adapter so I could use the socket set on my cordless drill... yea the adapter snaped.

So I went to the trusty ole 12 foot breaker bar. They came out like butter.
Now I need to just know how to take the two axles out. I can't figure it out. I'm gonna see if I can find a chiltons book on it.
