What is the good and the bad about long headers and short ones? Also so what is the best set of headers i can get for the cheaps price,or should i just go with ebay?

I have long tube flowtech's on my 67 with a 289 and a c4 and they fit nice and are good quality. I've had them for 3 years or so and they fit nice with the original type starter which I can remove without taking off the headers. I would reccomend them

Actually, I recently found out this may not be true in a lot of cases... According to a recent Car Craft article (Dec. 2003) comparing headers, shortys actually made as much as 23 hp more than long tubes (+11hp at peak), and only sacrificed a max of 7 lb-ft of torque (and that was up to 3600rpm, at which point the shortys made more torque than long tubes). This may actually make shortys a better choice, especially for a traction limited car like our Mustangs.Jonstantine said:

Buddah why in the world would you read Chevy...err I mean Car Craft?
J/KI am also thinking of ditching my longtubes if I have fitment problems in the Mach once I drop the engine in. I noticed in that episode of "Rides" where they featured the Fastforward Fastback. that they used shorty's on the engine. Made me go hmmmmmmmm.

can you give me some more info on the article?
what kind of testing did they do, and on what kind of setups

My personal opinion is for the shortys because I like to run the cars lower to the ground.
