Wish my Stang was faster

Take a look at my sig.
Not too bad.
4.10's, Hypertech, blah blah blah.
But the Stang still ain't fast enough compared to most cars.
I mean sure I can beat most cars out there but not by that much.
So many 6-cylinder cars out there are just as quick.
I love my stang don't get me wrong.
It's Black and real mean looking but jeez! It should be a freakin beast bone stock. Why do we have to spend a bunch of freakin' money on endless mods just so we don't lose as bad as we did stock?
Yeah, I could replace the Flowmaster C/B for a straight through muffler but what does that get me? 5 hp ok 10? big deal!
And I know I don't have nearly as many mods as most Stangers here.
Perhaps I should just get S/C for 4 Grand :nonono:
That's pretty sad! An 8 cylinder Mustang GT requires a Blower just to compete with a stock LS1.
At first it's fun to add mods and get all excited about the gains (If any).
After most of us blow a bunch of $$ on each 5-10HP mod we could have
just got a used vette and left it at that. (Yeah but where's the fun in that, right?)
I'm so glad I've got a Big Bad Loud American Muscle car so I can be as fast as a Honda, yay!
Oh well, just my rant for now, Flame on. LOL

i'm totally with you btw, i wish our mustangs were more powerful out of the box, but the MAJORITY of the people who buy the mustang GT are happy with it's power. also, it would be hard for ford to invest the extra $$$ and still keep the GT's price down. they gotta deal with overpaid workers and shareholders who constantly demand short term gains. its a pretty effed up cycle.
 
I know how you feel.. One of the reasons I traded the 02 GT and bought the Mach, although now I wish i would have opted for the Cobra. :shrug: The amount of aftermarket is not that great for the 4.6's.. But a car that runs low 14's is not shabby for the price. But the amount of potential in these cars are limited unless you strap on a blower, but then you sacrifrice longevitity.. With 3V GT's on the corner with a new engine layout and platform, what is going to happen to the 2V aftermarket? Or even the 4V market? That is another reason I wish I would have opted for the Cobra, you can mod it easily to extract big power to be competitive years down the line..

You won't be satisfied until you have so much power you can't control it and wrap yourself around a tree.

Your Stang isn't slow, you just choose to race other quick cars... ones that will give you some competition.

We are also in the middle of a new age of Horsepower Wars. Your car will get slower and slower now if you don't work to keep up, so save up for a blower already.

For the time being, why don't you pull up to a KIA or something like that and throw down on it? Then you will feel like you are fast again. LOL!

IF you had an LS1 you'd wish you had a Z06

If you had a Z06, you'd wish you had a McLaren F-1

There comes a point and time when you have to be satisfied with what you can afford and handle. Until then, why whine about it?

I'm just like you, I hate it when I get beat, but to be honest, it doesn't happen all that often. '99 + GTs are faster than MOST cars you are going to encounter in day to day driving. Not only that, but you don't have to sell a kidney to be able to afford to drive one.

BTW, you DID know how much power the GT had BEFORE you bought it, right?

Get an intermediate pipe, some pullies, LT's and a plenum/TB and come back and say your car isn't fast.

Sadly to say, it's faster than a great percentage of cars out there. But, there's always someone faster than you, so don't fret it.
 
I know what you mean but look at it this way you have a 4.6 and they have a 5.7 and all they have on you is a couple a tenth on you in the quarter. Dude mod you stang with parts that really give you the best bang for the buck. You don't need a S/C to beat ls1 fbodies threre are many n/a 99+ stangs beating them with no more than $1700 in mods. Get the right parts and your stang will be much faster. :D
