Does anyone know how hard it would be to swap my dying 4.6L with a 5.0? Can I use my existing t45 trans? What kind of electronics will i need?I'm just trying to figure out if i would be better off going this route or just replacing the current 4.6 for a 99 or newer 4.6.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, just either do a headswap (gives you a bit more compression) or just find a 99+ motor...I can't remember the name but there is a place on the net that sells the 32v Mach 1 engine (shaker and all) for like 3k...just check around...it would be to much work to put a 5.0 in it...when you can put a nice 4.6 in it :nice:

Yeah, I would just do a head swap on your car to the '99+ (PI) heads. They will actually raise your compression quite a bit. I remember an article where they did this and made more power with a '96-'98 GT with just the head swap than a stock '99+ GT because '99+s have lower compression pistons. If you ever plan on supercharging, don't put '99+ heads on your car unless you plan on swapping pistons for lower comp. ones. Doing a head swap is definitely a lot cheaper and easier way to accomplish what you're after, though. Good luck! :flag:

Or if you do the 99+ heads have some "bowl work" done on them to lower it...then get it blown :nice:
