this question is asked daily.. try the search tool and have a nice day

I understand the complaints about the same question being asked over and over..... but people often are in search of conversation or dialog, and if you can also get an answer to a question, why not ask? :p

I think its a pretty easy answer to find.. but i'll be kind and share my knowledge. 275/40/17 will fit on a 17x9.. especially Nitto's "555" model since nittos tend to run thinner.. but 275/40/17 is not meant to fit on a 8" wide rim. It will bulge no matter what brand you buy.
If you like street driving and corner carving, bulging is definately not optimal and plenty of tire experts in the past told me NOT to do it.

If you want a wide look, buy some 17x9 replica bullits for the rear, cuz its the rim offset and the fact that its a 17x9 or 17x10.5 if you want to go all out that makes the tire look wide. On a 17x8 you are scrunching a big tire on a little wheel.. It needs to be correctly stretched on the wheel.

Here's my 275's on a 18x9.

it wouldn't look like that on an 18x8.

So my opinion would be to buy replica 17x9's and some 275/40's if you want to do it right, otherwise no one will notice the change except for you. 17x9's give you a decent stance out back
