Finally!

After a long search I bough a 99 Vert GT 5spd about 2 weeks ago. The car is very impressive. I like it more then I expected.

I have few questions to ask..

Is it true I don’t have to change the plugs until 100K?

How do I tell if i have an LSD? (if it was an option)

I believe I should replace the IACV? Can I just get one at AutoZone?

What Gear oil do I use ( I’m searching as we speak but maybe I get the answer quicker here)

I had the car on the lift and did not see a drain or fill plug for the Rear End. How do I go about changing the fluid there. Maybe I don’t??

I have this weird rattling sound coming from rear end or the tranny when I’m creeping in 1st and then switch to 2nd and the RPM's are too low I get this GRRRRR sound. It happens when the RPM are at 1000 mark or lower.

Any tips on the maintenance are appreciated. I am about to change all the fluids and filters in the car .

Thank you.

My '04 GT with 240 miles makes the same kind of drivetrain noise. I guess it's normal in 99-04 Mustangs. And when you get below 1000 rpms, you should downshift to first gear because you are lugging the engine. Changing the IACV isn't necessary unless you have poor idle quality. The platinum plugs that came originally on your car should last up to 60k miles. Oh, and congrats on your purchase!! :nice:

Thats why Im asking. The book says change the pugs at 100K.

People on the board say to change the IACV before it goes because that part is weak on the GT.

And after searching for hours about the tranny fluid I guess I will go with regular ford brand cause no one has a valid info on what type to use.

Thanks

190HPKilla,

Congrats on the stang bro. I didn't know you supercharged your maxima? That makes two boosted maximas going to stangs, welcome aboard. :nice: Any reason why you went with the vert over the coupe?

I've heard that the Redline D4 fluid gives you smoother shifts but then Tremec doesn't recommend synthetic fluid for our trannys.

Yup I sold a 2K maxima and bough a boosted 96. After running it for 5 months I stripped it and sold it stock.

I wanted a Coupe but then a good deal came along for the vert and I got it. And my friend has one too. I dont regret one bit.

Are verts any slower in the 1/4 mile?

Thank for the info.

Im going on monday to do the fuel/air filter, plugs, brake fluid, tranny fluid etc.

I suppose I have to change the rear end oil too? I did not notice a plug there.

the fill plug for the differential is on the upper left front of the pig. There is no drain plug. you have to remove the rear cover to drain it. My 02 GT takes 75w140 synthetic diff fluid. I suspect yours is the same.

Do i need a new seal then?

Do you have any idea what is the difference in the 35th ANN Mustang. I have the 35th Ann and want to know what is so special about it.

Thanks.

Just cosmetic additions. Added hood scoop, different rear spoiler and side scoops, black hood stripe, black rear panel, machine polished wheels and some interior touches.

Welcome btw!

Hold up..

I dont have any of that. Did all 1999 stangs come with the 35th Ann badges on the fenders?
