Don't put anything aftermarket into a stock block, with the exception of some cheap pistons if your dead set on chaning the compression. Other than that its a waste of money. The stock rods, crank, pistons (even hyperutectics) are all stronger than the stock block. Anything you do to build it up is a waste of money, stud girdles included. Just use a factory shortblock and spend all your hard earned money on your heads/cam/intake or a power adder. Stock shortblock is good to ~500rwhp.

IMO, Probe is the best way to go. You don't get a much better piston anywhere else, and the cost for Probes are extremely reasonable.

There are many good cranks out there. SCATs are the most reasonable and most widely used in the Mustang aftermarket, therefore they are very cheap for the quality you receive.

As said before, don't use the stock block. Get a Mexican block or a Boss block if money is tight. Don't reuse the stocker.

I'd say that's about the best advice you're gonna get without knowing your budget or how much power you intend to make or what exactly you plan on building.
