I am planning on getting an offroad x-pipe and the K&N FIPK. Will I need a tune when I add these two parts? I have read the the CAI will make you run lean, and the offroad x will make you run rich. So should I be ok with the factory tune with regards to these two bolt ons? It is my daily driver, so I need it to run well with no hick-ups. Thanks for your input. I currently have the K&N drop in airfilter, so I was thinking of just removing the air silencer instead of buying the CAI. ANy thoughts???

A CAI should not change your A/f ratio - its the MAF's job to keep the A/F consistant when more air is introduced. Most lean situations are probably caused by turbulence messing up the MAF's signal due to the 90 degree bend.
An X-pipe may change your A/F though - not sure if it would be lean or rich - since thats on the exhaust side.
Incidently, I did notice a pretty good SOP gain from the K and N FIPK.

peace

The K&N alone did produce a feel of gains... very noticable... tires felt slick even though they were in great shape... but the offroad x-pipe... I did notice a drop in low end torque and I suspect the A/F is lean.... so... I removed the x until I can get to a dyno... with my new baby due / new house / my budget it tight :)

Damn it! :)

Here is what my setup looks like up top. The K&N FIPK2 CAI gets that Eaton to sound just whine (ie. FINE). I just hooked up the Magnaflow (streetable type) X pipe and catbacks. Together they work very well compared to the restrictive/quite stock setup. It makes me wonder why I waited so long to do it. As for the A/F mixture, go see a top notch Dyno tuner. P.S. DynoJet #'s went up 48 RWHP and 45 RWTQ.
