New Proffesional products throttle body sticks....bad!

Just ran the car with the new intak / supercharger / throttle body...and that thing sticks! i could tell it was going to stick before the install by the stiffness of the throttle plate / valve inside the body...anyway...is this normal with PP?? what can i do to stop the sticking madness?? it sticks at around 3000 rpm and just holds...sometimes it will go back down if i rev it up really high....new spring...idle screw....HELP!

Sticking at higer rpm's is caused by the vaccume buildup holding it shut. I guess P/P missed this area of design while ripping off the TB they copied. I've heard of drilling a small hole on side of the butterfly that goes outwards when you open the throttle. This can relieve some of the pressure behind that plate.

i bought one of these for the setup, couple weeks ago.
ill be bolting it on in a couple days

too bad i didnt hear about this problem before i bought it :(

anybody have GOOD experiences with these? give me some hope at least?

im sure you heard negative feedback about this part BEFORE you bought it right???? well IMHO you buy CHEAP you buy TWICE. this part is just a bad rip off of the best TB made, the ACCUFAB.

Funny,
I am an engine builder and I have installed many a PP throttle bodies and intakes on the stangs I build. I have only known of a couple of people who had the problem you described. Bothe installed the unit wrong and once I removed it and re installed it it worked fine. DO NOT DRILL A WHOLE IN THE TB, THIS WILL NOT WORK AND YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS.

Check your IAC,this is where I usually find the problem.

well first of all i WASNT the one with the problem from a PP part as i would never make the mistake of running any of their products. and second maybe you can explain HOW you install a TB wrong??????

Please elaborate on the above statement. You've been misinformed. As for the problem, I sent mine back to 50 resto and they sent me a new one. These things do come with warrentees you know.

HEY!!! enough......back to the problem at hand....what about putting a heavy return spring on it or sanding the o.d. of the butterfly inside the t.b???

don't think the sanding thing is a bad idea, use a dremel and remove the butterfly and just smooth it out with a fine grit, you don't want to remove any material at all just enough to give u a little room.

Mine has worked flawless for years, and I have heard of this problem with other TB's as well.
If you can wait, I'd send it back and get another one. if not.....,
You said you could tell it was going to stick before you put it on? What was the issue? did it feel like the throttle plate was binding on the throat? if so, REMOVE it and sand or file the edge of it slightly. Or, try adjusting the idle stop a little to keep it from closing so far. If your idle then becomes a little too high, your computer will adjust to it in about 20 mins of driving.
Or, is it the return spring binding?
Also, I had a situation where the return spring on the throttle cable was catching on the sleve on the cable, could it be that? (probably not if you felt it before you installed it). Just trying to throw some ideas out there.
But as I said, mine and a few others I know about have been great so it's not like they are all plagued with this problem.
