i remember seeing a magazine article that someone gained a solid 5 hp and 5 torque from just porting and polishing the upper intake... but i cant find it again.

anyone have any luck with this? i'm all about doing cheap **** to the car.
i took off the throttle body a few weeks ago and cleaned it up alittle... but i ran out of bits for the dremel so i figured id finish it up while i have it apart.

do you mean port the plenum?? I ported mine out once i got the accufab in the mail just as a project but havent tested it out yet. i used a dremel but as i said i have no positive or negative results with it.

One of the mags had an article on it and there were some gains. I don't remember if anyone here ever actually dyno'd a ported/polished stocker to see what gains they had. I can get some cheap dyno time but I don't know how acurate it would be since I would have to dyno the unported stock plenium, remove it and do the work, then replace it. It would wind up being on different days and conditions so I don't know how useful it would be. I have a Trickflow on the way so I am for sure going to do a comparison between stock and aftermarket

port and polish

I ported and polished my plenum and I have it on my GT. I noticed a considerable difference in the higher RPM range. I also noticed a drop in low end power. I p/p the throttle body also. After all is said and done i would recommend this mod to anyone. Its a hell of alot cheaper than 400 dollars for an accufab combo. Of course 400 dollars gets a better looking plenum.... :D no dyno #s sorry

I did mine, the factory plenum is a sharp L, you just have to smooth the edge to make it more like a J, there was a website making a dyno for a ported plenum, but I saw the pictures of their ported plenum and it still was a sharp L.

When I did mine, there was actually a lot of material that I took out from that sharp section, you don't have to make the whole thing wider, it is all about the sharp edge where the air changes direction.

oh i also spent a couple hours porting and polishing the throttle body and upper intake. the throttle body has a little lip on it about 1/4 of an inch before blades. i smoothed that out and opened it up alittle.
i left the area around the blades along so i would cause any sealing problems
the intake i pretty much just opened up a little and smoothed it out. i cleaned up the area right before it goes into the lower intake. theirs a little ramp right before the egr port. i didnt want to remove it, but i did clean it up.

i felt a little different in the upper rpms with this.
i wish i would of took some pictures.
