What cars did 2.8's come in?

I'm familiar with the 2.3 4-cylinder, 3.8 V6, and 3.3(200ci) inline 6 being in Fox bodies. But I've never heard of a 2.8.

i think its a 3.8 i dont belive they have 2.8s... and its not hard to run circles around cars that usually run 15.0s.... (i know notch backs and well taken care of fox bodies can do better... just speaking on average)

As for you, Supercharged2.8. I never said I doubted you. But you sending me a PM telling me "it is a 2.8" and telling me "to do my homework" makes you an @$$hole in my book.
Why should I do my homework on the 2.8? Am I restoring Pinto? Sorry if I never gave two ****s about older V6es, but IMO, everything 6 should be an inline, even my 2001. But thanks for the list of crappy 70's cars this engine came in. Now I know where to look for a cheap boat anchor.

why did you pick a 2.8, i just want to know. they cam in bronco 2's and rangers also, and they were dogs, especially with an auto tranny. but anything can be built to not be a dog and that is a great thing to do, thumbs up on your 2.8.

i had an 84 bronco 2 with an auto and a smoky 2.8 with 4x4, great low end power for the mud, but if you want to pass somebody, think again. if you take your cats off and run a single flowmaster 40 series, it will sound very close to a v8 and it will be very loud and not a ricey sound at all.

It just pisses me off that he came in here looking to argue with people. I'm sure he was just waiting for somebody to say a 2.8 never existed so he could have a little dispute with them, prove them wrong, and look like a big boy. And I never said it didn't exist. I just asked what it came in.

And no. I am not a fan of 70's cars. I do like Mustang II's, but only because they're different and pretty uncommon(especially when you go to as many shows as I do). I also like Mavericks and Comets, but only because my family's first car was a '74 Comet and I still remember it well.
Keep in mind, I was born in '84. The styling used in 70's cars just doesn't appeal to me. Almost like designers were obsessed with cramming square pegs into circular holes, and vice-versa.

Here's an example.

A '77 Pontiac Grand Prix. My family had one like this(our 2nd car). My dad is still convinced it was a somewhat nice car. But IMO, the thing is just downright hideous.

Look at this pic, and tell me the car doesn't look like it should have square wheels.

And it wasn't just a GM thing

The bumpers definately didn't help anythign either.

i just saw a 'retro stylin' PT cruiser,
it was a GT, had chromed over bumpers, and had the taillights that resemble something off a buick with fins...

No. Chrome bumpers are fine. I have them on my '66.

But '74 it was Federally mandated that cars had to have big bumpers that stuck out 3 feet from the front and back. Probably so you had a place to sit and wait for the tow-truck when the unreliable piece of 70's Detroit iron broke down on you.

3 inches of poly eurethane doesnt tend to make a good seat anyhow... 0_^

That's a pretty cool project, Love to see pics of it all together. What are some specs on the motor and what blower is that? What are you doing about the dist?

Shame it still doesn't have the 79 front end on it...
